Company Representative scams, Payment Processing scams and other Employment scams.

Have been on job boards looking for work and found a company in England that wants to hire me to ship packages.

They want to me to service their clients buy having packages shipped to my home address from auction sites such as Ebay. I in turn reship the packages to another country.

Items are mostly electronics and household goods people want from US that they can't get shipped to their home countries thru conventional means.

I've asked them about legalities and they promise they adhere to laws. Not sure why they are using someone like me for international shipping.

The pay they offer seems reasonable, $20 per pkg. They need me to handle 20-40 pkgs per month.

red flags....
They say they already have several workers here in US but won't compromise their privacy by letting me talk to any of them.
I wonder if they may be trying to bypass customs taxes and tariffs.

I've been out of work several month and need to find a job. Is there a chance this is a legitimate company?

Hello PianoMom,

This sounds like a scam. The person may be obtaining property with stolen credit cards, fraudulent Ebay account and possibly having other victims send item to you.

You may even be sent a fake check or money order for an advance payment for services.

Note: There are legitimate US companies that will buy Ebay items and ship to persons in other countries.

Could you please post all the emails sent from and email addresses of the employer?

Thanks
Bryon

Hi PianoMom,

Thanks for posting the initial email.

Beyond what I already wrote. A couple things stand out as scam one is the phone number the other is a company using a free email address.

Let us know what you find out.
Stay safe.
Bryon

There's no "maybe" about it.

It is a standard reshipping scam, plain and simple.

Here's a little more information on reshipping scams.

I too was taken in at first by this Russian scam organization. There webpage is quite good, http://www.ems-service.co.uk/?p=contacts, have a look around. They have taken the time to locate the offices in a nice district in the UK. Under contacts the number is an answering machine in the Bronx. IP tracing disclosed the address in the Ukraine. When I would speak to my manager on the phone he had an obvious Russian accent. I ask anyone else who has been duped by this fake scam to leave a message on this blog. Thanks.

Thank You Bryon and others that looked into this scam for us. Your quick reaction was most helpful and saved us from potential harm.

On the surface this looked like a legit offer. When red flags started flying it was another big disappointment for my husband. He's been out of work several months and wanted to believe this was a real job.

The company was pressuring him to make a quick decision.

Career Builder took several days to respond but confirmed our suspicions.

Scams seem to be getting harder to spot as it is quick and easy to make a fancy website that looks legit.

Please keep up the hard work to help keep us safe.
