Hello everyone,
I would like to ask if someone had been sent the same email below. I saw a job posting in LinkedIn about a job opening in SeaBourn Yacht hotel from a certain Capt. James Fox Jr. ([email protected]). I sent an email to the company confirming the identity of Capt. James Fox Jr. but I did not receive any reply yet. Thank you in advance..

First of all, it is 100% scam, no doubt about it. In case you haven't seen this discussion:

http://www.linkedin.com/groups/attention-this-is-fake-profile-3996280.S.114317406

The writing tells me that the author is certainly not British, and the whole "online interview" is a standard scammer tactic. In addition, a hotel that is big enough to be recruiting foreign employees would not be contacting potential candidates using a free email address.

The real Seabourn actually has a careers website, seabourncareers.com . They have a scam warning here:

Thanks Dotti for the response. There is one more thing that I would like to ask. I was offered a job in Radisson Blu. Do you think this is real or is it another scam? Below is the email I received.

Dear xxx

We have finished considering the applications and interview answers we
got from different applicants. We are glad to inform you that we are
indeed satisfied with your qualifications and will hereby hire you as
a member of our team.

Attached to this Email is a contract of agreement which was prepared by
our legal solicitor, you are to read through it and if you agree to
the terms of our contract you are to sign and provide us with the
scanned copy of the signed contract.

We will also like to inform you that the hotel will take care of all
cost pertaining your travel documents which will include the cost of
your Visa, Flight ticket, and other travel documents that may be
necessary, we also will like to state that we will not be responsible
for the cost of your Work permit paper as our budget does not contain
the charges for employee's permit cost. As stated by the travel agent
you are to obtain your work permit code before the processing of all
other travel papers can commence. Hence if you are to accept our
offer, we will want you to also contact the travel agent working with
the Radisson Edwardian Hotel so that they can immediately furnish you with details
on your work permit and other travel documents processing. With the
help of our travel agent you will be able to get your travel paper in
due time and they will also book an appointment for you in the British
embassy in your country for your Visa to be granted.

You are to contact the travel agent via mail by sending a mail to them
and also the scanned copy of the signed contract to
[email protected]

We expect your response soon.

It is a scam.

Notice that once again the email addresses are free gmail addresses - again, the businesses would recruit using official addresses--they would not use free addresses. Like the other company, they actually have a recruiting site, and you would have applied for a real job using this site: http://www.carlson.com/jobs/hotels.do

Also, ANYONE claiming to be a UK business but using a 4470 phone number should be automatically considered a scammer. These numbers are not real UK phone numbers. They are redirect phone numbers, and calls can be forwarded to phones all over the world (in most of these cases, they will be forwarded to the cell phone of the African scammer--the English tells me this one is African) Real businesses with offices in UK have real UK phone numbers.

And, travel agents cannot arrange visas or work permits (and once again, legitimate travel agencies do not use hotmail addresses.) Whenever an "employer" sends you to a travel agent for these documents, it is a scam.
