Company Representative scams, Payment Processing scams and other Employment scams.

Does anybody know of a scam like this? I want to know if I should contact them back. This was a response to a craigslist ad for employment. The email was as follows;

Hello dfgoodchild and welcome to Scamwarners,
This is a scam where they will send you a counterfeit check for more than the stated amount. They will then ask you to send the overpayment back to them. to them.
A legitimate company promotion would not be using a free yahoo email address.

It is ALWAYS a scam
If the pet seller or shipper asks for money to be sent via Western Union, Money Gram, any brand of gift card. Walmart To Walmart , Zelle , PayPal friends and family option, or mentions Cameroon

Update - The emails originate from [41.220.69.75] which is Nigeria, Africa.

I fell for the email bc it was reccomended from a friend.
I sent in the info they request and am really kicking myself in the ass right now.
Any advise?
Havent cashed any checks, just sumitted my information via email.
Whats my worst case with this?
