Hi,
I responded to a job posting on Elance (which is a perfectly fine site, although there are some scammers there) and received the following email yesterday.
Dear Applicant,
The company's Administrative dept has gone through your resume at Elance.com and it was commended positively. You have been shortlisted for immediate employment because we are convinced you possess the right and required qualifications to move to the next employment process.
The position offered is that of a Data Entry/ Data Encoder positions. The company's working days are from Monday- Friday (Working hours are Flexible, both part time and full time positions are open). The pay rate is $20/hr.

Once she is contacted, she will respond immediately to brief you on the company's and job details. You are also to have her added to your instant messenger for immediate briefing on the job available and company. Her Email: ([email protected]), ([email protected]) on whichever you prefer. Unfortunately I did send an email and received this in response.
Dear Applicant,

Below is my list of available Instant Messenger I.Ds:

Add me on which ever you prefer and then send me an IM message with your full name, cell number, location (State/City), position being applied for and your hiring i.d, which is hr20, immediately you have me added on, this would enable me verify your application for employment before we proceed to discuss on the job details. Looking
forward to hearing from you.
Mrs Baker,
HR dept
I ended up doing an "interview" with this person and giving them some of my information. I did some googling while I was interviewing and it seemed legit. This is the company website they sent me too. http://www.headlam.com/ When they gave me my first task I started googling it and it was this scam:
Below is your first pre-task as instructed by the head of dept.
Write an article on The Best Ways to Prevent Overdue Accounts using your own words. Each article must be at least 2 pages with examples.
Time limit is 24 hrs.
Mrs Baker,
HR dept.
I have contacted Elance, my bank, and put a fraud alert on my credit report, as well as changing my cell phone number. Is there anything else I should do? Thank you for your assistance
