I randomly received an email regarding a job, then I also received a text from someone who was a "Job Recruiter" that asked me to add the person onto yahoo messenger to do an immediate online interview. Suspicious at first, but I did it... I googled the Company (Arise.com), legitimate and all so I felt a little more comfortable. But as he was introducing himself, he gave me the address of his company which didn't match the one I saw online attached to the company (Red Flag).
Then as he was giving me the job details, he gave me the business hours in Central Standard Time but the company was located on the East Coast (Red Flag).
He told me they were sending an XP Computer with a Check which I had to deposit in my bank, but only through the ATM (Red Flag).
He gave me a long list of softwares (BS 1 Accounting software ,myob business essentials software 2010,For Peach Tree premium 2010 US Patent Single Users Pack, simply accounting 2010,Apple Final Cut Express 3.5 HD Upgrade,Norton Ghost 9.0,Microsoft Office XP 2012 Standard Upgrade,Peach tree Premium Accounting 2011) I would need to purchase "at company expense" with the check he was sending. Also, in the check, included a $150 signing bonus. None of the grammar he used was correct(Red Flag).
He claimed he had to forward our conversation to a Hiring Board to get the final ok on my hire. He asked me questions but I never gave him any information, he asked for an address... So I gave him a fake one.
He contacted me the next day stating he wanted to speak to me since I wasn't available online, he texted me from the same number that contacted me at first but this time said he was the "Hiring Manager" (Red Flag).
He gave me a task which was made out to see if I was fit for the job, skeptical... I googled the task he gave:
Write an article on The Best Ways to Prevent Overdue Accounts using your own words. Each article must be at least 2 pages with examples. Time limit is 24 hrs.
Thankfully, I ran into this website that had the exact details so it confirmed that this in fact WAS a scam!
I confronted him when he contacted me the next day by replying saying:
"Are you aware that I have found a scammer just like yourself? You fit the description as well. The exact emails and IM conversations we have had are available online! Just thought you should know"
That cut all contact from him, he never even replied! This scammer has to be an idiot because none of it is well thought out! I just hope he doesn't catch any of YOU!!!! Beware and Good Luck...
