Company Representative scams, Payment Processing scams and other Employment scams.

Very Amusing...or not. Of course, desperate stay-at-home mom (me) goes on Craigslist almost daily, so I'm not surprised I got this. I am surprised that it took so long. I took the liberty of *** my email, but otherwise, the header is as I received it. WTH can't people just be real? How much money do these people actually make? Granted, I had gone so far as to actually "accept" the job before I got the wigglies, so when that check arrives you can bet it's getting burned. I like fire, I don't like fraud. Heh, and "he" wasn't too happy when I asked about how taxes would be handled...I guess having legal employees puts a damper on that whole check scam thing, yeah? And why on earth would someone advertise for an office position and then tell you they had no office? Not to mention the fact that the place I am supposedly sending the money to (an "orphanage") is in actuality a daycare/school. The person I am sending the money too? By all accounts a hard-working Christian man that donates to charity. Like I wasn't going to look up the address and name, for real. The guy I am "sending" too has no affiliation with the "orphanage" (school).

Welcome Zooba and well spotted. Hopefully your post will save others from falling for this scammer's fraud.

Any time you're asked to pay a cheque in to your account NEVER EVER agree to pay funds on. It's the whole basis of this type of fraud. If you don't manage to spot it beforehand, if you make clear that you'll retain all funds you're sent by cheque, that'll see them off. They can always issue two cheques.

CAR ADVERTS - If a car seller mentions escrow - he's scamming you Never ever for any reason pay anything until you have seen and inspected the vehicle

Much obliged for posting the header Zooba. I notice part of it has been forged. A legitimate person would have no need for such folly.
by Zooba Sat Jan 19, 2013 11:32 am
Well, the *** part is me, the rest is as I received it. I didn't keep the 2nd one I got from a supposed antique dealer. That one had immediate red flags

All understood Zooba.
The *** part is not what I'm refering. Is always good to remove personal details before publishing otherwise more spam and crap could be sent. Well done there.

I don't understand what parts were forged...I mean, copied from a form script, sure, but forged? Could you explain?
by vonpaso xlura Wed Jan 23, 2013 1:12 am
Forged headers are commonly seen in spam. A spammer sends a message which already has a Received: header in it, to confuse people who analyze headers to figure out whom to complain to. He also puts a From: header that points to someone else's email box. The initial scripts sent by scammers are spam as well as scam; subsequent messages are just scam.
