See this thread. A definite scam and it's a digrace that these are being allowed on yougov. websites.

Please report it as a fraud attempt and I'll try and find it and do the same.

I suspect that they're posting the job under a slightly different company name to hinder it being picked up, so you'll have to guide me as to where it's located. It needs to be stopped.

CAR ADVERTS - If a car seller mentions escrow - he's scamming you Never ever for any reason pay anything until you have seen and inspected the vehicle

This is a definite scam.
- They don't have a website. Most likely the domain is registered purely for the e-mail.
- They want you to pay upfront fees by Ukash. Never send anyone you've never met money.
- Hiring you without an actual face-to-face interview. Nobody is going to do that in this times of crisis.

The domain is only two days old and was registered by proxy for only one year. It's a scam. Could you post the full headers of the email?

What interests me is the link to where the job appears on the government website.

When I've looked in the past companies have to have logged on using a profile and I want to be able to knock the profile out that the scammer is using and alert the site that they have scammers abusing the service.

You can't have a government organisation promoting scams, even if it's by accident. I'm aware that the service is lax, but I don't believe it should be. Give me the link and I'll deal with it.

No such company of that name is posting cleaning jobs on the DWP.GSI.GOV.UK website which is the official government website and on which only those properly registered can offer jobs.

One possible deduction is that some applicants are having their details 'misused' by someone with an official registration, but I can't investigate further without a hint as to what job was applied for. I have a suspicion but a confirming nod would be nice. If necessary I could then apply and see what happens, and I'd then have proof if the same happens to me.

This is a low value high volume scam, and it appears to be targeted at jobseekers, which tends to suggest it's someone with access to the details of people applying for jobs and, from the massive number of people sent these mails and their reports, it won't be difficult to find out the source. People just need to state what similar jobs they've applied for recently. I'm not saying it's the company, but it seems possible/likely that someone within the company is handing off details, in the form of 'sucker lists' as they know these are people most likely to be vulnerable to the scam.

The fraudulent emails/phone calls/letters can be in the name of any company - real/impersonated or completely made up, but the one standard feature is asking for an upfront payment by UKASH which immediately labels it a scam.

This is a video someone has posted about them being scammed on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmVRe_7ba4o (with some bad language at the end, so it's not suitable to view at work).

I'll collect all the names and phone numbers they're using, as anything that reduces the success of their scam will force them to back off, be more cautious or push harder. If they select the last option they'll be easier to identify, which won't be difficult once the source of their information is identified, and what they're doing is illegal and amounts to large scale organised fraud. Presumably being a small amount involved they hope to 'fly under the radar' as they clearly have access to lots of personal details.

Any job request or job offer mentioning a CRB check is a scam. The scammer is a moron.

The one feature that identifies these job offers as fraudulent is the request for a UKASH payment up front. Without further evidence any such job offer can be trashed, after reporting details here so that we can help other people avoid being scammed. Clearly they're inventing a new name for each scam 'run', so if you post the most recent name used along with the scam e-mail, it'll be more effective.

I had no idea of the scale of the scam until I began researching. It's massive.

I'll update the names used over time, but finally from the UKASH website - security advice.

http://www.ukash.com/en-GB/security-tips/

How to report a scam

If you believe that you are a victim of a scam you should contact Ukash as soon as possible and then report it to your local police (except the UK).

In the UK you should contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or at their website

Only use Ukash at genuine partner websites, never send code details by email or telephone

From Moray Council’s trading standards

http://www.moray.gov.uk/moray_news/news_81603.html

Consumers should be aware that Ukash should only be used for making payments online at participating Ukash merchants and is not meant for person to person payments. Genuine participating Ukash merchants will never ask for payment to be made by sending voucher details over the telephone or by email.

If you disclose the Ukash number by e-mail or phone, your money is gone and stolen. Any request for you to do so makes it certain that you are dealing with a scammer.

Of course, you can't pay CRB fees by UKASH so any request to do so is a scam.

Another features is that you will appear as a 'BCC", in other words, the scammer is mass-mailing out these messages but hiding who else is being contacted.

CRB Check scams.
If you are applying for a job through any online portal you will find that some employers will want you to complete a CRB check. Legitimate employers will ask you to submit a completed CRB either during the interview process or at 'offer stage'. Be wary of any response asking you to send money for a CRB check before you have been interviewed.

Prior to the article in the Daily Mirror on 18 October, 2012, we were already working in conjunction with the police to investigate this series of incidents, as we have been since the issue was first brought to our attention, and will relentlessly continue to do so.

We've become used to friendship/romance sites being overwhelmed by scammers but I wasn't aware that the same had happened to job vacancy sites, and they have even managed to get on to government operated websites.

Some of the examples I've seen are hilarious, but they're looking for victims not employees, so no one is ever turned down.

If you receive one of these scam job offers please post the details here even if they're duplicates, after removing your personal details and e-mail address, as I'm compiling information on these scammers and will pass any evidence I get on to the police who have stated they will take action against these criminals. I'm satisfied that at least one gang is located in the UK.

New company names and phone numbers they're using will help anyone who Googles and this will reduce the money the scammers are making significantly.

These are the types of jobs they're offering: (I'm listing them as they are targeting low paid jobs with vague requirements to get the widest take up).

Bar Staff
Care Assistant
CARE & NURSING ASSISTANT
Home/Hotel Cleaner
Hospital Porter
House Keeping/ Cleaner
Kitchen Staff
LABOURER

Warehouse Picker
