I keep mentioning the risks of getting snared in one of these jobs scams and it's more easily understood if you read what happened to a victim.
Actually this person is quite lucky, though I'm sure he doesn't feel it, as he's now having to pay back the money he sent abroad out of his own pocket. As he didn't receive any pay either his job involved paying money to a scammer and getting in to debt to do it.
In the UK, which is generally more lenient, he'd face losing his bank account and being blacklisted so that he wouldn't be able to get another, and potentially get up to 10 years prison.
It's incredible that the scammer asked him to open another account when the bank locked his first one, but the scammer is prepared to 'crash and burn' you to get his hands on your money, whatever the consequences to you.
Companies don't use Western Union or other cash methods of transferring money and anyone handling money for a company would get a face to face interview - not over the internet. You can only pay money to a company by paying it in to a bank account in their company name. If you pay money to a private individual by Western Union or a similar method it's a scam and you MUST not do it, otherwise you'll find you're giving away YOUR money to a scammer.

From this thread I can see why they will often specify the banks their their 'employees' accounts must be held with as some banks put a hold 24 hold on incoming payments, by which time the money will be blocked. It seems that not all banks do this.
