How did you realise what it was actually doing? My partner was on the official website for jobseekers and his advisor told him to apply for it and stood over him whilst he applied he was supposed to start today but I stopped him scared he was going to get to trouble.

He took the job even though it seemed to good to be true as we were struggling and needed more money its sick to no people would take advantage of people like this your post saved his account thank you :)

Welcome to Scamwarners CharlotteBD.

This is a major problem and the whole system has become a joke and a scandal. If the Job Centre can't recognise a scam and even act as scam recruiters by ignorance, I don't know what to say.

Scammers are producing these website clones on a massive scale. I've even applied under a fake identity and can point you to the forms I was told to complete. They included requests for my bank account details and internet banking password. :yikes:

It's usually an online procedure and you should ask your partner to go through it with the 'Job Centre' advisor to show him/her. I don't suppose he/her really cares. That's the idiocy of how things work nowadays. I have doubts about how many jobs being offered online are real. Many of the ones I see look very dubious.

Point your job advisor to UK Companies House

A search on the company name 'X InfoTech Ltd' reveals that it doesn't exist. Who does the advisor think is likely to be on the other end of the pc screen ?

It also claims to provide a payment service in the UK for which it needs to be authorised and it doesn't show any such authorisation on the website, something that's a legal requirement in the UK.

My annoyance is reserved for a government body which is malfunctioning and clueless.

HannahsDad even provides the link to the specific page detailing the 'job'. They don't actually call it 'money laundering' but you receive money in to your personal account and pay it on by Western Union.

Action Fraud and HM Revenue and Customs would not be happy and they'd not be amused to find a government agency involved in recruiting money mules. I must go make a coffee.

They ask for 'read only' access to your online bank account, something even my wife doesn't have on my account, and something that would be enough to cause your bank to close your account. To read it, they need the password and guess what happens next.

Next - the fact that this company isn't registered with HM Revenue and Customs to operate a Money Transfer Business within the UK can be checked here

... it isn't.

I'm so sorry you're having to deal with people like this at the Job Centre. If Job Centres are all recommending these jobs the country is doomed. I'm just aghast.

If the Job Centre attempt to pressure or coerce you into applying for the job, post the location only of the Centre here and I'll contact them. I'm only offering to do this because the consequences for all involved are so serious.

Action Fraud have stated you could face a prison term of 10 years for this type of money laundering, though that's unlikely, but you could easily lose your bank account, making you virtually unemployable, and you'd lose all your money and face repaying any funds you've paid on. The consequences for anyone who has coerced you in to getting involved could be even worse, and it would create a major scandal if it became public knowledge.

The idea that a government agency, even if it's through ignorance, is recruiting people in to criminal work beggar's belief. I would use more forthright language, but it would be censored if I did.

The site is also listed by 'aa419' and 'FIGHTING MALWARE' websites. Job Centres shouldn't even be visiting sites like uk-x-it.net.
