Company Representative scams, Payment Processing scams and other Employment scams.

I was "hired" by a group that goes by the name, "From Hand to Hand, LLC" out of Charlotte, NC. I was promised $3,000/month to receive packages from their customers, inspect them, tape pre-paid shipping labels (customs forms) and ship them via USPS. All of the packages had Russian delivery addresses and none of the names of the people at the final destination matched the names on the packages that were sent to me. This is a SCAM. The USPS rejected two of the packages as the labels were fraudulent. After 3 weeks of receiving and shipping packages, they stopped coming and I was never paid. The contacts are Julie Hutson and James Warren. If you are contacted by "From Hand to Hand LLC", know that it is a scam. They found me on Monster and Career Builder.

Welcome Davis,

Unfortunately, this is more than a simple scam. You have now become part of a serious crime.

The names on the packages did not match the recipients, because the packages were purchased using stolen credit cards and/or banking information. If an investigation is carried out into the fraudulent charges, it will lead straight to you, as the receiver of the stolen purchases. Receiving and forwarding stolen property is a crime, and it is something you can be charged for.

You will not have the thieves' real information, as the company is fake.

It is important that you keep all correspondence regarding this "job." It is generally a good idea to be proactive, and report what happened to the authorities, so that it is clearly documented that you were not a knowing party to the crime.

If the "company" had a website, could you please post it here, along with any emails they sent connected to the website? We will want to kill any websites or domains owned by the scammers to prevent reuse.

Thank you for helping spread a word of caution about these types of messages! Based on the pieces of information provided within your original post, I've determined that this is a package forwarding or reshipping scam message. This is a spoof email and should be disregarded and deleted at this time.

- If you have been receiving packages, and have sent some off to the addresses on the labels supplied to you by the scammers, please file a report with your local Main Post Office. Letters and packages fall under the jurisdiction of the US Postal Inspector regardless of the method you are using to send them and how you are receiving them.

- Please file a report with the shipping firm (FedEx, Airborne, etc.) and ask for the Fraud Department. In some instances, the packages will not have been picked up on the other end and can be returned.

- File a report with your local law enforcement. It's best to make them aware of the scam, and that it's happening in their community.

Forward suspected fraudulent scam email messages to the FTC at [email protected], as well as to the Abuse Desk of the sender's ISP.

We recommend such messages be disregarded and any current or future correspondence attempts related to the message be ignored.

We do offer a Fraud Page for Jobseekers: http://www.careerbuilder.com/JobSeeker/Info/Fraud.aspx

Thank you.

I too was "hired" by From Hand to Hand LLC and my experiences are precisely what you have stated. While I do not know you at all, let me say that I am a vindictive person and fully intend to have someone check on the address in Charlotte that they list as their office. These people must be stopped and I will take whatever legal steps I can to help. I stress, "legal steps" because I do not wish to stoop to their level. If I can be of any help to you please let me know.

I know nothing about the CareerBuilders' site and I am based in the UK but from what I have seen many of these 'mule' recruiters are contacting victims off site and I have a concern as to how they are able to do this if contact is supposed to be only through the website, which seems a preferable way to arrange things and keep everybody's details secure, and control the activities of rogue elements.

I intend to perform some research to discover what details are being passed on to 'employers' on UK job sites, and see if any pass on information they shouldn't.

Perhaps it would be sufficient to get it listed as a phishing site so that Google and other browsers throw up a warning if anyone tries visiting it.

If you can't kill it - have it neutered.

I don't know if it's possible, but a little lateral thinking sometimes does the trick, and if a host ends up specialising in such sites, they'll be out of business eventually.

If we couldn't do it maybe an official body would see it as an easy solution.

I could have gone in that building (it's a skyscraper and the scammers didn't give the floor number) and asked where From Hand to Hand is, but not having any other reason to pass by the building, I called the leasing office. There is no such company as From Hand to Hand in that building. Nor is it on the list of companies the North Carolina Secretary of State keeps.
