Company Representative scams, Payment Processing scams and other Employment scams.
by biffdonahue Tue Mar 19, 2013 9:47 pm
i received an e-mail from careerbuilder.com from an employer claiming to have interest in me. They are based in cyprus and are offering a customer service representative job that pays well and comes with benefits. their website looks very official as well. however, all the press about them is from press release websites which anyone can do, their US mailbox is a PO box which anyone can get, and i can not find them anywhere other than their websites and these press releases. Upon searching the history of the publications they claim to have been written about it, all searches come up empty. to their credit, they are incorporated in the country of crpyus. I am not very excited at the prospect that this is a scam but if it isn't this is a sweet offer. Someone with more experience please lend me a hand, you could save me from a lot of unnecessary misery. thanks.

this is their website

SCAM!
Could you also post the email they sent you? That will be a script they also sent to others, and posting it will help it to be found. It will also help our site killers with the necessary evidence.

A few key points:

-The website says copyright 2009-2013, but a quick lookup shows it has actually existed since last week. (registration details below). I found a 2nd domain, also registered this month.
-Domain registration is privacy protected, not something you would expect for this type of business.
-as you already noted, the publicity is self-generated.
-terms of service and text on some other pages, copied off a variety of other sites. Example
-perhaps most importantly, company is registered, but this is what the official department of registrar has to say about the listing (see the part I have highlighted in red:)

This is clearly a fake domain, but I don't recognize it as belonging to any gang of scammers I know. Please post the emails with full headers (delete your own info) and we'll start shooting it down.

It looks like the same form has been used before. A quick Google search found nearly the same wording in this reported scam:

I received the same emails via career builder but the web site for vourna was http://vrnassets.com

It looked like a legit website to me also. I'm glad I searched and found that there are others with the same creepy gut feeling.

Thanks for posting the website, dawnty53. It has all the signs of another fake site.

Can you post up emails with full headers? That might help us determine where these scammers are operating from.

I am so glad I did a search on Vourna Properties Limited before wasting any more of my time. It is such a shame that there are scammers out there praying on people like me, Lost my job after commuting for 16 years. Thought this job would be a fantastic opportunity to work from home. I live in a rural area in the foothills and did not want to drive the icy mountain roads any longer. I appreciate this site very much, thank you and please continue to provide this service. :=)

country.gal These money laundering jobs are all the same. If you aren't robbed at once and actually continue making the Western Union Transfers you will be running around like a blue arsed fly from WU office to WU office to make transfers up to their limit. Also lying to say it's to family or friends. So the dream of not driving icy mountain roads is just that- a dream. Most likely though, as fake training, you will be given a fake transfer of a cheque or bank transfer. You will be careful and wait a few days to clear it and once it has, forward it on to the next trainee. Oops! I mean victim, less your wage and commission. Any time after that and up to around 3 months, later the bank will write and tell you payment has been reversed as the cheque was fake and the bank transfer made by a scammer from a phished/compromised account. You will be in debt to the tune of $2500, a closed bank account, and have a gentleman in a blue uniform calling on you with a fraud charge to make. Your car may be repossessed so you definitely won't be driving!

They keep calling and e-mailing me so I requested a $100,000 US signing bonus in a duffel bag. They have not responded since
by Clair Mon Mar 25, 2013 4:08 pm
It is best to just ignore the calls and emails. Don't mess with them or confront them since they have your personal information. While they don't usually come after victims, it is always better to be overly safe.
