IS THIS FRAUD?
I have come to the conclusion that if you want to publish a book these days, please learn as much as you can before hand before you venture down this road as you will not have control or information of sales, emails or your royalties until up to 6 months after the official publishing date.
Even after being told that this information can be obtained from your own account via your royalty payment.
-the book always remains your property
-you paid in advance all costs of publishing which can go to ten thousand dollars
Without a person looking after your personal interests like your novel being published around the world, you have to sign a contract that you don't even know you have signed and because you think you have paid for the service, you think they can be made to supply you with the truth on sales.
This is not the case. You won't even know how the sales are going in the world because the publisher won't tell you until 40-60 days after the book is released.
There is a whole lot more that needs to be said but if I at least put out this warning, I might save some one to how close these self publishers are sailing close to fraudulent activities these days.
It certainly pays not to write under your own name or that would be abused by them as well!
