Is it a scam?

I did apply for a PA (personal assistant) position recently,
those are responses from my potential "employer".


1st one:

Thanks for the quick respond about the this position. we are looking for someone who can assist us as my wife is pregnant which is our first child so we need someone who can help her out as she haven't got the energy to do all this up and down business she does online and we will be wiling to pay £15.20 and you will be working 4-5 hours on each day when you will be available to work and if extra hours is needed that will be paid for as well and is a permanent position as well

This is the job description is simple

Helping with administration work and replying emails
picking up phone calls and send fax
helping with house clean and tidy when is needed
help with shopping when is needed
Tidy garden when needed

Have check your location is less 5 miles away from so that mean that will be easy for you and please can you confirm which time and days you will be available to work.

Thanks for getting back to me quick and after all the couple of CV we got we have decided to give you this position.
We live in Germany and we will be arriving next weekend on Saturday and everything has been arrange and all you need to do is meet the landlord as current tenant are moving out so i want you to be there cleaning and tidy there as some repairs need to be done at the apartment so i want you to monitor the properly and if you can give me the time and days you will be available so i can make arrangement with them so everything can go as plans.

We have employed someone before and in the weekend he called to tell me he cant do it due to his wife a heart problem so he need to take care of her that why i need you to start the job for us asap.

You will be meeting the landlord this next week Tuesday which you will be working from next Wednesday to Friday all you need to do is monitor the repairs and clean and tidy the apartment will be comfortable for you once the they have done their job but if you think you will not be available for those days PLEASE SEND THE DAYS YOU WILL BE AVAILABLE so i can re-schedule it to the time you will be available to get the job done that which you will be paid £15.20 per hour as we agreed as we will be arriving on next week Saturday and Sunday we can meet and finalized the job and you can start according to your job timetable you provided and this is a permanent position which minimum we need you for a least a year if you will be happy for work for us.

Please send me the items you need to purchase for the cleaning jobs so i can get that sorted out for you.

Please call the landlord on this number and arrange when you can meet him to pick up the keys please confirm this job if is suitable for you as i need you to start asap as w have little time.

Thanks for getting back to me and have book thing out as plan for this week and landlord and hope you have contact the landlord for the arrangement.

I will you to purchase some little items for us before we arrived and include £150 for the cleaning items you will need to clean the house hope that amount will be OK to get the to get the cleaning product and yes £15.20 per hour.

Am giving you all the trust as we need meet but i think you are a good person so we are giving you a chance and i know you will enjoy working together

I will send a payment of £620 to you via your account or i can send you a bank draft which you can cash it at your bank or send me your BAC details so i can get that sorted by weekend.

All you need to do is take off £150 and keep £230 which you need to pay for the delivery men on next Thursday as furniture will be deliver as well. you don't need to do anything just monitor them properly and once the apartment is sorted out next Friday all you have to do is clean and tidy.

Please let me know so i can get the payment send to you by weekend and will call you this evening myself when i finish work at 10pm tomorrow hope not too late.

I don't know what errors a Welsh speaker would make in English, but those errors look more like those of a West African than those of a German. It's also a not uncommon scam scenario.

i can send you a bank draft

Don't bank any cheques he sends you. They will be counterfeit and the best that'll happen is that it will bounce and you'll get stick with unpaid cheque fees. At worst it'll get returned unpaid after you've cashed it and sent a part back to the scammer. His intention is to get you to convert his dud cheque in to cash.
