Greetings everyone, before anything let me explain what happened.
Well i got an email from the supposedly gainsborough hotel, saying they're offering me a job,
Similar to what has previously posted by a member of this website in 2010.
As i am quite young (25 years old), I needed a way out of my life living in Malaysia, and the email that was sent to me was in perfect timing as previously 2 days before receiving the email i was browsing through "no qualifications jobs" websites.
The email that was sent seemed ok at first, (though i did noticed that the sender of the email uses a yahoo.co.uk account) but i dismissed this fact because the sender also included the company's other email address.
I replied back and forth, and that's when they sent me the "brochure" of the hotel, with the jobs that they are offering, monthly salary and also the perks of the job.
I got over-excited with the reply and i replied to them saying i was interested.
They replied back with a form that i needed to fill out.
And naively I did, giving them personal information (full name, address, telephone number and even my passport number)
And a few days after that, they sent me another form saying that I have been accepted for the position that I applied for.
Foolishly again I signed at the bottom and even included my passport photo.
Then I had a hunch to randomly google the hotel's name related to scammers, and I came across several websites saying it's a scam.
I even telephoned the hotel directly asking them about the email and the person talking on the other line was nice enough to apologize for this and clarify that they DO NOT offer job vacancies nor did they emailed anything to me
As heartbroken as I was (being 25 and young, I was really looking forward to it eventhough it seemed too good to be true) I did more research and came across this website.
My question is :
1) What can they do with my details (full name, address, telephone number, passport number and passport photo)?
2) Should i make a report to my local police station?
Also they have not asked for money yet, just details of myself, passport photo, and my CV.
Any other information that you guys need (the emails and attachments they sent) I will post it if ever deemed needed.
Please help me with this.
