I am concerned about my son's involvement with these people. Who were they reported to and what can we do? They got some info on him and went through the state job board to contact him. We are now concerned about the potential for problems down the road.

We deal with reporting the fraudulent websites and getting them taken down. That activity has been started.

If they contacted your son through the state job board, you should report the fraudulent offer to the job board.

If your son has not performed any transactions for them, but has given banking details, it is best to contact the fraud department of your bank and find out if they recommend further action (like changing accounts.) If he has given information that could be used for identity theft (social security number plus personal info) you might want to contact the credit agencies and have a fraud alert placed on his file to prevent accounts being opened in his name.

If your son has performed any transactions, he definitely needs to notify his bank ASAP, and file a police report, to make sure that it is well documented that he is not a knowing participant in a criminal conspiracy.

If they contacted him but he hasn't given banking details or confidential info (e.g. social security number, etc.) no worries. Just report to the job board so they can make sure they try to cut off their access, and it's business as usual. He may get a few more scam job offers, but as along as you stay alert, there should be no further problems.
