Welcome to Scamwarners thrasher4.

You'll find the same scam set out in this thread.

http://www.scamwarners.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=19633

Basically they want to recruit you to launder stolen money for them. It's incredibly common as the criminals have no problem stealing money but they need to persuade people to transfer the money to them, who will inevitably take the blame and suffer the consequences. Most money mules don't survive the first payment, so their need for volunteers is massive. The pay is incredibly good because they'll never pay you anything other than a small portion of the stolen money and, taking that, only makes you appear to be a part of the crime.

The writing is West African.

This sounds like a fake check printing job. The scammer has gotten hold of an account and employs the check printer to print checks on the account; for that he needs the software. The printer/victim sends the checks to the mule who takes his cut and forwards the rest by WU/MG to the scammer.

I don't know a Katherine Coyne, But are you sure this company is SCAM ?

I don't know who sent you the message, But Paycycle Inc , Do you think they are SCAMMERS ?

I am a Freelance Accountant, And i saw a Job opening on CareerBuilder.com, I applied for the post and i have been working with them for two months and two weeks now. I learnt that the company was acquired by another payroll company in 2009. They explained everything to me and even their website re-direct to the new payroll company.

The content of this message is similar to the message they sent me when i submitted resume on CareerBuilder. I was contacted by Jacqueline Ava, At first i taught it was a scam . I submitted my information and the next day i received a call from them requesting for references, past experience accounting and paycycle bi-weekly or monthly. I choosed Paypal as form of payment.

Three days later i received "Quicken, Sage 2013 software and a CD Tape", The offered pay was $25 per hour and i work 10hrs/week. I was assigned a supervisor called "Martin". All i do is log-into to my sage enterprise account to download my daily task. I never worked with sage before but with the tutorial cd included it was easy for me.

What i do is basic accounting procedure such as invoicing, ledgers accounts, reconciliation. Sincerely, I had my doubts cause i never got to meet with anyone from the company in person. I live in Scottsdale,AZ. but my supervisor lives in Clewiston , FL., To me everything is fine. Anytime i have a problem with the softwares, i call my supervisor and he puts me through. Until last month, When i received my first month Pay from Paypal all my doubt cleared. Both my first and second month pay was not delayed. I don't handle money or cash all i see is figures and i'm used to that as an accountant.

With everything happening, i had no more doubts. Which makes me still ask "If this is a SCAM and HOW". At first, I was thinking they would send me a check to cash and forward to them the excess or use me to launder money somehow, But since i started working i only see figures. March, 2011 - I was a victim of online scam, So i'm extremely carefull with jobs online. I don't accept Pay-check or expose my Bank account to anyone. I only accept Paypal.

Paycycle name which i saw was what prompt my response to this post. Why don't you request for their website or request a phone call. Some content of the posted message is similar to what i received,

"Paycycle is a committed company that provide a full suite of flexible payroll services, including human resources and benefits. PayCycle harnesses technology and continuously develops ideas that support ever changing compliance requirements. We are proud to be a nationwide leader in single-source payroll solutions. We handle services like hiring employees, Taxes E-File Service, Household or Nanny Payroll, Payroll Outsourcing, Quicken Personal Finance, QuickBase, Mint, QuickBooks Payroll Program, Timekeeping, Preparing the payroll, and Paying the payroll. All this are services our company provides for registered company or stores."

So it might be them OR it might also be a Scammer preying on innocent people using reputable company names. My supervisor is Mercedes Martin, As a freelancer i work with mainly three accounting organizations, And what i accept is strictly Paypal. I Always Google contact information to find warnings before applying. There are so many ways you can protect yourself from scams, Read this article on how to protect yourself from scam. http://www.scamwatch.gov.au/content/ind ... ctyourself

I will make my supervisor aware of this posting and see if she know any Katherne coyne, But you can never be too sure, Read more articles on how to protect yourself from Internet Scam, make your verifications and look out for those red flags.Do your findings and if there is anything you need i will be glad to assist.

You are an accountant unfamiliar with Sage ? Really ?

The link you've provided is to an Australian government website which may not be very relevant for US employees.

As a trained and qualified professional you would be expected to be aware of the relevant data protection law that would make the holding of employees' personal financial details on your home computer illegal. You would be aware of this as an accountant and the pertinent legislation, but I can tell you if you don't know.

If the company is involved in outsourcing a payroll function, they'd be expected to have their own copies of the necessary computer software and be able to issue licences to their employees, as the whole purpose of outsourcing is to save money and getting employees to buy their own copies is ludicrously expensive. In actual fact any competent company would only need to grant employees access to their own operating system which would massively reduce costs and represent far better regulatory compliance than their method.

The simplest protection is not to have anything to do with any scheme like this as it is very obviously a scam.
