Hi All,

I believe I've caught a scam here coming to me from an advertisement I put up for my new website design business. The first email I recieved was this:

My name is Maisie Khan, respond to my email for more details If still looking for employment. email me here khandxq at gmail.com. Thanks!

I responded letting her know that I offer a variety of services and how I could help. The next email I got, which I have not responded to was this:

This is what I had in mind. I am 49 yrs old,I import crude oil to various
country and community service programs. I most very often get my hands
occupied, so I think is best to have a worthy assistant who can monitor and
keep me up to date with my activities. This position is home-based and
flexible, working with me is basically about instructions and following
them, you will be working 2hr daily excluding weekend. Basic wage is $700
weekly. As my personal assistant, your activities among others will
include: Create and modify documents using Microsoft Office,Running
personal errands, supervisions and monitoring,Handling and monitoring some
of my financial activities. I am presently in Dublin 9, Ireland for a
summit. I will be back in two months. My website is currently under
construction company name is Makeover Oil & gas, Inc. Hope to meet with you
upon my return from Ireland to discuss the possibility of making the
position long term. Well, let me know if you can do the Job as I will like
you to get started prior to my arrival to Canada. I will attach my picture
in my next email. Hope to hear from you soon. Cell # +44-704-203-3441.
Thanks,Maisie Khan.

Now I did some math here and figured out that this person was wanting to pay somebody they didn't know $50 an hour for about 14 hours of work per week. I would start before I met them which probably meant they would want my bank account info so that they could "deposit money into it" (although this hasn't been specified YET. And why would I need their picture? To me this just smells.

I just wanted to get some input from others before I report this.

Welcome to Scamwarners wildcanadian,

Yes, it is a scam. The scammer will want you to receive money in your bank account, pick up Western Union/Money Gram payments and/or receive packages from other victims and forward it to him.

It is just best to ignore him at this point and do not reply to him anymore.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.

Please do not tell the scammer he is posted here.

Sincere thanks Bryon!

I did a search using the tips on this forum and found out the same. I have also reported the scammer to Craigslist.org. It won't stop him from creating a new email address and trying this on somebody else, but maybe another person will see this post and find it useful. :D

Best bet, if it sounds too good to be true, you can be pretty sure it is.
