I have been offered a job called a dispatcher. The job is receiving checks that have been signed but need a persons name written in the pay to the order to section. I am provided the labels with names and addresses for 3 different mailing services ie USPS, UPS, FedEx. I am required to use gloves when handling the checks and when I write the names from the mailing labels provided. Once I have written checks and enclosed them in the appropriote letter sized envelopes I am to mail them in the designated mailing companies mail receptacle. I would not have to invest any monies but would be paid for my services. What can you say about this if anything at all? I appreciate any thing you can offer so I know how to reply to this request.

This is some sort of counterfeit check scam. You are required to wear gloves so that your fingerprints won't get on the checks, but when the police find out who's mailing the fake checks, be assured that you will be fingerprinted.

Please post any emails you received, with full headers, and any websites involved in this scam.

As to replying, don't. We don't want the scammers to have any clue how you found out that it's a scam.

Welcome adrian319.
This is very definitely a scam. The scammer is enlisting you into becoming what is known as a "mule".

The checks are all fraudulent and the people you would be sending them to are victims of his other scams. If you were to undertake this "job", you could be held legally responsible for the fraud.

Do not continue correspondence with the scammer. He will continue to contact you to try to enlist you. You can either tell him "I know this is a scam, stop contacting me" (but don't tell him about us, or how you know) or just ignore him.

As the other members have indicated, it is a scam. One has to ask why the 'company' doesn't simply send the cheques themselves? Why use a middleman? Sending cheques to you, then having to write a payees name upon whilst wearing gloves, all sounds highly sus. If you were to be paid for conducting this service, your 'pay' would be earned in a fraudulent manner. When the authorities realise what's going on, it will be you getting caught, not the scam artist. As the others said, it's better to simply cease all contact with the scammer and ignore any emails they send you in future.

I don't have anything to add to what others have said adrian319 other than to emphasise that it's the FBI who come calling with this type of fraud and, if they discover you've been doing this work using gloves, there's every chance they won't consider you to be an innocent party in this matter and any jury is liable to consider that you knew what you were doing, and that you knew it's illegal.

If the criminals thought they could get away with it, they'd do it themselves. You're being set up as the 'patsy'.
