I applied to the same gig. Went to see what was up with the check at a WU cash checking place and they turn out to be counterfeit. He wanted it to be put in a bank acct via atm or phone not in person. So the cash checking place confiscated the check. Beware this guy is a scam and the embarrassment of the fraudulent check was worse than the line down at the spot.

It's a typical scam script written by a West African. Don't cash or try to deposit the checks and don't answer the scammer when he asks about the checks. If you got them in US mail, show them to the USPIS, along with printouts of the scam emails. If they came by FedEx, UPS, or the like, show them to whoever carried them.
