Company Representative scams, Payment Processing scams and other Employment scams.

Here are a few emails that my wife has recently gotten since looking for work on Careerbuilder. It's the way too good to be true scenario and although we couldn't find any of the same business name of NarEvent Consults online associated with a scam we did find this letter online searching for personal assistant job scams almost word for word. I had her respond to see just where this was going. It's quite interesting to see the lengths this person takes to make it real. At this point tonight we have received the following emails and taken it as far as we want to go and hope this helps somebody else from getting scammed. There were several inconsistencies with the email addresses such as Nareventconsuits.com and Narreventconsults.com. The other email addresses listed in the signature section were different as well such as the consuits was actually spelled consults this time. Some had simple messages but a few had longer responses that were in an attached PDF format.

That was the last one she got today. I hope this helps some people avoid some trouble. PleAse let me know if anyone else out there has gotten this one, couldn't find it anywhere but the website was registered 8 days ago so there has to be plenty of others out there getting the same scam sent to them.

So here's an interesting update. This guy just texted my wife with the following.

"Your husband just fucked up your credit. Tell me to continue the msg on internet and when your credit is reined ask him to fix it"

So he's obviously monitoring these scam warning websites to see if anybody is catching on since it's only been a little over 12 hours since I posted this. The fact that he is so worked up now that he is relentlessly calling my wife this morning and texted her that threatening message is making my day lol What a piece of work.

I know he will read this as well so please know that everything we have from you has been forwarded to our local FBI office fraud department and now I will post all of this on every warning website I can find. His responses are golden and just proves what a scam it is. Any legitimate business doesn't monitor these sites, just from the lengths I had to go to just to find these warnings shows it is not just easy to come across unless you are searching for it.

Now that's a happy scammer! I'm sure he'll be even happier knowing that our site killers will make sure his website is toast.

Of course he is sitting in Africa or Malaysia, and trying to bluster you into deleting your post.

Total nonsense, of course. What would have ruined your credit is if you had fallen for his scam and deposited fraudulent checks, but obviously you saw through the scam and did not do that.

Just to clarify: The scammer probably wasn't monitoring anti-scam sites (though I am sure he is watching this
now--hello low-life scammer!!)

These scammers usually target several potential victims at the same time, and it was most likely another potential victim that googled the fake company, found the post, and confronted the scammer with it. Scammers get very angry when they know that they have lost a victim due to posts here.

Sorry for the late response, I was at work all day and able to check the responses but couldn't post until now. I'd like to thank you for your assistance in this, it's hard to believe that this is a never ending thing for these people doing the scams. Thank you for helping get these guys noticed and hopefully at least one more site destroyed before too many more people get sucked into something horrible. I seen that the Google search shows this thread near the top already when I looked up the fake company name, that's awesome.

I am so thankful to find this post. I received the same email but the company changed its name to bhkon consulting or BHK consulting. They randomly found my student email and send me the exact email post as yours, just with different contact. They also told me they would send me a laptop with a softwae within a week and do the same research. Plus hand me a key for an office. Did they scam you with money fraud?
by Dotti Tue Feb 17, 2015 5:06 pm
Welcome yruiz011,

They tried to scam the original poster with a fraudulent check. (They wanted him to deposit the check, withdraw cash and wire it to the provider for the "furniture.") Luckily, he realized that something was not right so he did not fall for the scam or try to deposit the check.

What would happen if you fell for the scam is you would receive a check. When you took it to your bank, they would likely accept it (because it will be a real check that has been altered, or the check will be written against a real person's bank account--only that person hasn't authorized the check.) A few days later, if the fraud had not been identified, they would give you the cash. You would then take that cash out and forward it as directed. But here's the catch: the check has not actually cleared yet. They only gave you the money because the law requires that they do so if the check appears to be good.

A few days to a few weeks later, the bank will discover that the check is indeed fraudulent. At that point, they will take the money back from you (and they are legally entitled to do so.) They will also charge you a fee or a fine for the bad deposit. If you don't have enough money in your account, you will be overdrawn and you will owe the bank all the money you took out, plus the fees/fines. In addition, it it causes other checks to bounce, you will be hit with charges for each of those, both from the banks and from the places that received the bad checks. The bank may close your account and refuse to allow you to open another. Worse yet, you can be reported to the authorities for check fraud, either by your bank for the bad deposit, or by one of the businesses that received checks that were declined.

As for the money you forwarded? The wires are not reversible. The receiver's information will be fake, or he/she forwarded the money on further to get the scammer. You will have no way of getting the money back, and no way of identifying the real criminal, as all the information you were given was fake.

Of course, no furniture/computers/supplies (whatever you "purchased" with the money) will come, because this was never about those things. The scammer has simply walked away with the cash.

The whole purpose of this fake job was to convert a fraudulent check into cash and leave someone else holding the bag when the truth is discovered.

Please post the email address(es) this scammer is now using, and any websites they referenced.
