I saw an ad on craigs list that needed a housekeeper , I answered it. In a couple of weeks I received an answer. It was from Fischer and Mayle Madison. They have twins and one on the way. They will be moving to SC on the 19th of October. From California They need someone to stock groceries before they get here. Then I am to clean the apartment 2 days a week and do run errands. I am to work 5 hours a day and my pay will be $300. a week. GOOD deal, (I thought). My son said" too good to be true". So I did a google search on both names and "Scamwarners" came up. It had a post with the same names and same bussiness (housekeeper needed). I am to get a check for my pay and grocery money on Wednesday, of this week. What should I do?

It is a scam. The cheque you are being sent will be fake and they will ask you to deduct your "pay" and send the extra money on to someone else by Western Union/Moneygram. When the banks eventually discover the cheque is fake, they will reverse it and leave you down the money you sent on, as well as adding on charges and possibly reporting you for depositing a fake cheque.

If you have tracking details for the cheque then contact the courier/postal service and advise them that you have found out that the package contains a fake cheque (they may want to see all the emails). If you don't have a tracking ID then refuse the package when it is delivered and tell the delivery agent that it contains a fake cheque - or if that isn't possible, when it arrives, take it unopened to the Postal Inspector (if it was delivered by USPS) or your local police.

Then just cut off contact with the scammers - do not tell them you know it is a scam (they will just deny it) or that you found them listed here.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.
