Hi DJ,welcome to Scamwarners

Without seeing the actual emails I cant say for sure but it is almost certain that it is a scam email you received.

The basic concept is that you are to receive payments from "clients" and that you will keep some of the money, in this case 8% and forward the rest on.

The reality is that the payments you receive will be fake, perhaps forged cheques or money orders or in some cases money deposited from a compromised bank account or even from a victim of a scammer who has told their victim to send money to you so you can forward it onto them.

Regardless of how the money gets to you, you will be responsible for any money you forward on to the scammer.

If you can please post the emails that you received including the email address then we can look into it for you but I know what the outcome will be already
by Dotti Mon Jul 05, 2010 11:27 pm
It is definitely a scam.

Most of the time in this scam, the "payments" you receive will be checks or money orders. You will be told to deposit them into your account, cash them, and send all or part of the money to your "employers". You will deposit the checks, and at first glance everything will seem fine. A few days later (in the US, it is 5 days), the bank will issue you the cash for the check, and you would presumably forward the required money via Western Union. The problem will occur anywhere from a few days to several weeks later. At that point, either your bank or the issuing bank will determine that the check is fraudulent, or that it is written on a phished/stolen bank account. At that point, the bank will remove the money from the check from your account, plus any fees for depositing a bad check. They may even report you to your local police to be charged with check fraud.

In one of the less common variants of this scam the money will be paid by credit card (paid with a phished or stolen credit card and once again leading to a reversal and loss.) In the second less common variant, you will receive the money by western union or paypal In this case, the money will be real, but will be coming from scam victims who believe they are buying an item, helping a friend, or paying fees requested as part of the scam. When the victim finally realizes it is real, guess whose door the police will be knocking on?

Best advice--steer clear of any job that involves processing payments, period.

Hi Kingsize, after posting the email I can confirm with absolute certainty that yes it is a scam.

I suspect you were joking but please dont attempt to deposit the money, it is an offence to deposit a fake cheque and seeieng as you know about it it would be hard to argue any defense, besidies any moral issues of stealing you would be breaking the law and end up owing a lot of money.
by toidilooftoidi Tue Jul 06, 2010 8:28 am
I recieved the same email this morning and very foolishly replied before googling them as it seemed quite legitimate (they weren't asking for any money and I have earned similar amounts setting up orders for large companies)

Am I going to have problems as they now have my adress and telephone number?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. They may send you a fake check and then harass you (even threaten you or contact you claiming to be the authorities), and you may see some additional new scams coming your way, but that's about it. If you get a fake check, you can (a) take it to the police; (b) tear it up and throw it away or (c) very clearly mark it as fake and keep it as a reminder/educational tool! If they threaten you, remember they are halfway across the world and also that you have done nothing illegal, and just ignore them.

I received the same e-mail asking me to join the 'Stcokfusion' team.

I searched the companies name and there is a company, with a very good website, called Stockfusion. Is the company a valid organsation and they are justing riding on the back of this name?
by Michael Sat Jul 17, 2010 5:44 am
Hi there topher,

Most likely they are riding on the back of the legitimate company but there's no way of telling for surebased on the info you gave us. Could you please post up the mail you received? It will tell us more :)
