Advance fee loan scams and fraudulent loan sites.
by melanie56 Mon Jun 27, 2011 7:32 pm
I was contacted today by www.unsecuredloansource.com, they told me that I was pre-approved for a loan.
The problem is that I have to pay $495 for some credit report or something like that. They sounded legitimate, but not to sure, I haven't sent the money.
I really need a loan, but the banks have turned me down, and I don't like payday loans. My credit score is not that good. Any advice would help.
Thanks

Interesting that they say this:
At Unsecured Loan Source, there is never an upfront fee, so there is absolutely no risk to you.

and then you need to pay fees anyway--they just give them a different name.

Searching online, I can't find anything positive about them that doesn't appear to be spam or published by themselves. I found a few reviews, none positive. Here's one example: http://www.trustlink.org/Reviews/unsecured-loan-source--206407081 I suspect your situation may be the one described. A credit report does not cost hundreds of dollars--if they are saying they need to fix something on your credit report, they would fall squarely in the category of credit repair scam. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre13.shtm
