Advance fee loan scams and fraudulent loan sites.

Hello,
I received a phone call today telling me that I had been approved for a loan, he said his name was Matt.
I know that I have filled out a few application forms.
I am a bit nervous calling this place back in case it is a scam.
I only have the phone number 1866 273 8182.
Any help would be great, thanks.

That phone number belongs to this company:

Unique Business Solutions

16020 Hummel Dr
Beverly Hills, MI 48025

So I'm assuming you applied for one with them - how did you find them? Did you visit an office, looked for them online, received a mail from them, ...

No I didn't visit an office, I live in Canada and have been looking for a loan online, the banks will not help me.
Do you think I should call this person back and see if it is legitimate.
Thanks

I guess there isn't much harm in calling them. It's just weird that a loan company in Beverly Hills has approved you when you're in a different country. Could you point me to where exactly you filled out the form for this company? Trying to get a loan online is very dangerous - there are way more loan scammers than real loan agencies. As soon as they start mentioning any fees before you get the money - bail.

Yes, they did start mentioning insurance fees of over $1000.
I immediately hung up on them.
Thanks.

FYI: It’s illegal for companies doing business by phone in the U.S. to promise you a loan and ask you to pay for it before they deliver. Requiring advance fees for loans also is illegal in Canada.

Chances are the scammers bought a list of people looking for loans.

Hello....I too found these guys online.....

After doing my research, and having some "fishy" convos with this guy named Matt also, they asked me to send money to a guy named Jerome Nelson in Edmonton AB by way of Western union...

I was originally asked to send 1350.00 dollars as an insurance against my 10,000 dollar loan, however when I didnt send the money or my info back to them, they called a couple times I was able to talk to them today, they then lowered my insurance to 500.00 this made me even more suspicious....

Sucks that these lowlife scums feed on poor people.

To be honest about it, if the reputable banks won't lend money to you- Why is this? I should advise you to manage as you do now- without it. I find it very suspect that others should be easily willing to do so, and regardless of if it is a scam as such, you may pay far more in the long term to the point it could cause problems for you. That's just a friendly advice.

I agree with began steele, BUT here in UK TV ads for loans and pawning is becoming more common!

In UK there are official agencies to help people manage their debt probs, and I think you might find the same in Canada, good luck

Loan scams are the lowest because so many people have got themselves into debt because in the past loans have been offered with no checks on borrowers ability to pay!
