Scams selling or giving away non-existent animals, often Puppy Scams.

Was scammed by this rehoming agency last week; it's supposedly centered in both Maryland and Virginia. Here's their website:

primepetchauffer.weebly.com

They're also known as Optimal Pet Relocators. If you google them, they even have a location through google maps and can see a building there.

Anyway: was told by the owner of Maltese puppies that she would drop the pup off at the agency that saturday, then once I sent payment would send a confirmation email saying he was on the way. Ended up getting a phone call and email from a "Jason Woods." Here's his email address:

[email protected]

He said I had to lay down more money because the owner hadn't "given their pup the proper mode of transport" aka a suitable crate for travel. I thought it made sense, and they assured i would be refunded as soon as the pup got there...of course I wasn't. Because soon after that they called me saying that the "puppy is now in Maryland, and you HAVE to send them $860 dollars for Insurance and City permit, or else he'll be stuck here! The owner cannot take him back!" After laying down money for the pup and the crate, I told them "forget it, I'll pick him up myself in VA," the location they assured me he'd be in because he couldn't stay in Maryland.

So picture this: I'm from CT, and my best friend (who came to support me) and I drove about 7 hours down to Virginia, stayed in a shady motel overnight, then when we plugged in the address he gave me, we pull up to this poor man's address who's been living there for 33 years and had never even HEARD of anything like Prime Pet Chauffer pr Optimal Pet Relocators. Then, an hour later, Jason Woods, who I had told a MILLION times that I was going to be picking the dog up in VA and he assured me a MILLION times back that the dog would be at the location he gave me at 10am, calls, and says "oh there's been a miscommunication with addresses, and the pup is actually still in Maryland, and you NEED to pay for him for insurance, plus an accommodation fee!" The man had the audacity to ask me for MORE money, even after I told him I was going to be driving 7+ hours for this adorable dog...which didn't even exist.

Anyway, hopefully I've learned my lesson from trusting anyone who insists extra fees while a pet is being shipped, and hopefully this post helps to prevent these horrible people from ripping more heart strings, and purse strings for that matter. If you ever somehow get in contact with these guys, give them a big FU from me.
