Welcome to Nolan F1 Savannah Kittens
Knowledge Meets Experience:
Combining a graduate degree in the animal sciences and over 20 years of feline breeding experience, our program has the knowledge base required to produce the most striking Savannahs in existence. Understanding animal behavior within the breed also has a learning curve. We would be naive to claim that we know it all, but we have more experience on our side over any other Savannah breeder. No worries about whether your breeder will still be around to help with any issues that may arise with your Savannah as it matures and even enters its later years of life.
Why We Do This:
The creation of the Savannah breed has allowed the every-day person to capture a part of the wild and co-exist with it in their home. While the Savannah cat maintains the body physique, extreme intelligence and athleticism, and striking coat pattern of the wild African Serval, the Savannah cat is a more manageable option that will bond with your family, as well as your other pets.
Quality Driven:
We are a progressive, innovative, TICA registered cattery which continually strives to produce the highest quality domesticated companions. As the longest standing breeder of the ever-popular Savannah cat we offer the expertise and customer service that our clients deserve. Having the added advantage of time on our side has allowed us to surpass even our own expectations of how well we can maintain the Serval look and size in our Savannahs. Each time the next generation of matings are achieved our program is moved further forward on the quality spectrum.
What are Savannah Cats?
Savannah cats are a spotted breed of domestic cat, with an elegantly tall, slender, and long body frame. The savannah breed originates from a serval bred with a domestic cat. A serval is a small species of wild cat native to the African plains (or ‘savannah’, hence the breed’s name). The first generation of savannah cats are referred to as ‘F1’ for first generation, and if they are from a 100% domestic mother they are exactly 50% serval.
Please note that do NOT allow casual visitors to our home. We only allow people who have a deposit on a kitten to visit and interact with our kittens and cats. We get a lot of requests from people who want to see our cats or kittens, but this is not possible unless you are purchasing or picking up a kitten.
History:
Buy Savannah Online. Savannah Cat was developed after a domestic cat was crossed with African wild cat Serval. The first kitten was born on April 7, 1986, and was named Savannah. Patrick and Joyce Sroufe were the first breeders who started the development of a new cat breed - Savannah. Among the breeds that contributed to Savannah's breed development were Egyptian Maus, Oriental Shorthairs and Joe domestic shorthairs. Starting 2001 The International Cat Association started to register Savannahs. Just recently in 2012 TICA gave Savannahs the breed full recognition along with the championship status.
Size:
Savannah cat's weight can range anywhere between 8 to 20 pounds. Males are typically larger than females.
Temperament:
Savannah cat is the closest feline version of a dog. This is very active and adventurous cat. Savannah's athletic body allows her to jump to very high places to explore her surroundings. Be prepare that your Savannah will explore all top shelfs and cabinets in your house. Savannahs like to walk on a leash and play with water.
Savannah is a very friendly and curious cat. She will great your guests and spend a lot of time with you and your companion. She is also very intelligent and will always find her way to open the cabinet or turn on their own private waterworks.
Protect anything that can be broken and put away your breakables so your Savannah can't knock them over. Ensure your Savannah has a lot of toys to play with and gets a lot of attention from you. She will need a lot of time interacting with you and something to occupy her mind when you are not around her.
As far as Savannah's voice, they can either meow like their domestic mothers or chrisp like their serval father. Sometimes they would produce the mixture of the two. However, chrisping is observed more in higher generations Savannahs. You can also hear Savannahs hiss, which is different from a domestic cat's hiss and sounds more like a loud snake.
Coat Color And Grooming:
Black, brown, or black spotted tabby; black silver spotted tabby; and black smoke — are all different colors and patterns of Savannahs. Most have golden, cream, sandy or white coat with bold, solid black or dark brown markings, which can be round, oval, or elongated. You can also find Savannah cat with marble color, in which the spots resemble an elongated bulls eye type pattern. There are also other colors and patterns in Savannah breed such as chocolate, cinnamon, blue, red, and colorpoint. These colors came from domestic shorthairs that were used in breeding Savannahs in the past. Savannahs with non-standard colors can be registered but not shown.
On average it takes three years for a Savannah cat to reach adult size. Savannah's unusual physical traits include long neck, triangular head and large, wide ears, long body with long legs and a medium-length tail. The back legs are usually slightly longer than the front legs. Savannah's nose leather can be anywhere from pink to black. But black smoke Savannahs must have solid black nose.
