OVER 150 CUSTOMERS HAVE PURCHASED OUR PUPPIES!

Greetings & welcome to our Shih Tzu Puppy Home.

We are a hobby kennel and we have been breeding and showing Shih Tzu for past twenty years. We breed to the Shih Tzu breed standards set by the American kennel club and Our breeding is very limited all year round for the benefit of our breed/show program. Our Shih Tzu are from Champion and Grand Champion lines from a fusion of well known American and Imported bloodlines that we have acquired from professional breeders here in America or imported from UK.

Our sole purpose of breeding is not focused on maximizing profit rather, we plough back income from our good jobs into our breeding program so breeding Shih Tzu is just to keep the family and so charging a price on the puppies is just to recover the expenses incurred in bringing them up from day they were born. Our Shih Tzu pets are much more regarded as part of the family or for kids! We are not in support of back yard breeding or puppy farms and/or mills and as such, any puppy sold by us goes to new home as a pet and is desexed before leaving our beautiful home.

We breed and raise our puppies in a home environment with lots of care, love and attention and cages/kennels are not used. Moms and babies upstairs with us and our kennel is sited in the basement. Moreovwer, we have 5 large separated rooms which gives our puppies maximum space to play around.

Our pets and show puppies have their individual prices based on their qualities. We however sell our puppies at 2 or 3 months of age alongside a certificate of good health. We register and sell our puppies on a Non-breeding contract that is we only sell to homes that will not at a later time breed our pets for any reason. Occasionally, we give out ageing spayed females for a reasonable price to adult homes.

Contact for more information or email us letting us know what you are looking for, please also include the kind of home/environment which the puppy will be getting into and don’t forget to include your Full Name, E-mail Address and Contact numbers.

ABOUT US

In 1987, I first started showing and breeding husky and shepherds in London. When we relocated to United States many of my husky were sold to security comapnies.

In the past, I worked as a security guard and also boarding Shepherds and as well as husky for the Lowell Security. I have also loved showing my own Shepherds and Husky.

I completed 4 levels of Dogs-A HOBBY OR A PROFESSION.

On the 21st of May 1991, my last husky died of heart failure. A family friend Joyce (Shih Tzu breeder) decided to sell out her Shih Tzu. Mr Valentine our Vet technician told me to give a try to the small breed dog that’s the Shih Tzu breed and I did to my greatest surprise, these lovely creatures bonded so easily with me and since then, I have always moved along with them.

In 1996, we bought a 90 acres in USA, built a great kennel with automatic water bowls and heated floors. All puppies so just comfortable with these conditions and the fact that they have enough space to run around and play. All our puppies are raised in our home .

Having these gorgeous dogs have made me to meet some very wonderful people. I was very sad when Joyce decided to discontinue and retire from the breeding business after so many years. I was very excited when she turned over her foundation to me and kept advising me on her old but true lines.

I do not have enough time to get into the show ring but we do have a number of Champions and continue to get our show hopefuls in the ring each years. We are very delighted with the success most of our puppy owners and lovers are getting when they exhibit their puppies.

I cannot start to describe the love of owning these awesome small treasures. They are just the perfect companions for anyone who loves little fury friends, great travelers who also love to meet new people and want to be with you at all time. If you are in need of someone to give you love and attention, I take delight in showing you a bundle of joy that will win your heart and give you joy for so many years of your life.

History

The origin of the Shih Tzu dates back many centuries to ancient China and Tibet. It is thought that the breed developed by crossing miniature Chinese breeds with small Tibetan breeds – in particular, Lhasa Apsos with the Pekingese. The Shih Tzu was always a favorite of the Emperors of China. During the Tang Dynasty, a pair of these dogs were said to be given to the Chinese court by the king of Vigur. More were sent later by the people of the Ho Chou. In the mid-1600s, small dogs which resembled lions were brought from Tibet to China, and these dogs were used to develop the Shih Tzu breed we know today. The Shih Tzu was popular during the Ming Dynasty as well, favored by royalty and commoners alike.

The breed was favored by the Dowager Empress Cixi (T’zu His, 1861–1908). After her death, the palace kennels were dispersed and the dogs became rare. In 1912, once China became a republic, occasional Shih Tzus came to England and later to Norway and North America. The breed almost became extinct in 1949 due to the Communist takeover. Thankfully, several breed fanciers kept their dogs, and it is thought that only 7 dogs and 7 bitches are the foundation of all Shih Tzus today.

The Shih Tzu did not become well known to the western world until the 20th century, when it finally entered the show ring. The Peking Kennel Club was formed in 1934 and held its first international breed show that year. Lhasa Apsos and Lhasa Lion Dogs were entered and judged together, with clearly there being confusion between the two breeds. A standard for the Shih Tzu was developed by 1938, with the help of Madame de Breuil, a Russian refugee. This is reportedly the most poetic of all standards written for any breed. Here are some of its comments: “The head of a lion; the round face of an owl; the lustrous eyes of a dragon; the oval tongue of a peony petal; the mouth of a frog; teeth like grains of rice; ears like palm-leaves; the torso of a bear; the broad back of a tiger; the tail of a phoenix; the legs of an elephant; toes like a mountain range; a yellow coat like a camel; and the movement of a goldfish.”

In the early days of this breed, the golden yellow dogs were called Chin Chia Huang Pao; the yellow dogs with a white mane were called Chin Pan To Yueh (meaning “golden basin upholding the moon”), black and white dogs were called Wu Yun Kai Hsueh (meaning “black clouds over snow”), solid black dogs were called Yi Ting Mo (meaning “lump of ink”), and multicolored dogs were called Hua Tse (meaning “flowery child.”).

Breeding of Shih Tzus in England began in 1930, when several pairs of the breed were brought there from China. In particular, a black and white Shih Tzu named Lung Fu Ssu arrived in Ireland in 1930, and a black and white pair named Hibo and Shu Ssa came to England the same year. In 1932, one dog and two bitches were brought to Norway. When the Shih Tzus were shown against the Lhasa Apsos starting in 1933, it became clear that the two dogs were different breeds. The Shih Tzu Club of England was formed in 1935, and recognized that the Lhasa Apso and the Shih Tzu were entirely separate breeds. The Lhasa Apso has a narrower skull and a longer muzzle, while the Shih Tzu has a rounder skull and a shorter muzzle.

American soldiers became fond of this breed during World War II and brought some back to the United States. Many more Shih Tzus were imported after this, once the American dog fancier population became enamored with them. The Shih Tzu was recognized in the Stud Book of the American Kennel Club in March of 1969. It began competing in the Toy Group in September of that same year.

The Shih Tzu has always been a companion dog, being extroverted, vivacious, confident and dignified. Its friendly, affectionate and trusting personality towards family and strangers alike is one of its most endearing qualities

THE SHIH TZU TODAY

In 1889 two size categories appeared for Shih Tzu for the shows. One for Shih Tzu eight pounds and one for Shih Tzu under eight pounds. Today we see many Shih Tzu in movies such as the biographical movies and in television series. Champion DERRICK PRINCE the 2nd, the Shih Tzu who won the Westminster Show in 1990, topped his show career starring in television commercials as a representative of a dog food company.

Enjoy this interesting bundle of history. The Shih Tzu is responsible, they are quick to endear themselves to all who are closely associated with them. Our young and old beautiful Shih Tzu are the happiest dogs that I have ever owned. They may as well come in small packages but they are companions of all ages. They have many talents and accomplishments. Their acute hearing and alertness makes them a good watchdog. They are very clean and the adaptability makes the Shih Tzu suitable to a country home or compact apartment. They come in a variety of sizes and colours .
