Scams selling or giving away non-existent animals, often Puppy Scams.

Hi!

So I am currently located in Hong Kong and I am planning to buy/adopt a Corgi. I found an ad for a Corgi rehoming online.

Her email is: [email protected] and she claims to be located in Thailand and would need to ship the dog via Unitedpetairways.com. When asked to pay, she hasn't mentioned anything about what common pet scammers would do, such as: asking to pay to an address in Cameroon, using Moneygram, Walmart, Western Union or PayPal family and friends.

Basically shipping a puppies within Asia
requires the following for a pet-safe program:
- Certified Health and immunization certificates: 1000 HKD
- Transfer of ownership certificate: 500HKD
- Rabies Vaccination & Certificate: 500HKD
- Veterinary passport:300HKD
- Shipping fee: 1000HKD

THE TOTAL FEE TO HAVE ONE puppy DELIVERED TO YOU IS 3300 HKD

The shipping process normally takes between 6-10 hours to complete.

That was her response when I asked about the price.

Full Names...................

City / States / Zip code...........

House Address.......

Phone Number.......

Nearest Airport To Your Location.........

Once i have your information, i will proceed with the adoption papers
from my names to your names and get the puppy ready for shipment.

Thank you.

This format of email does seem dodgy though...

Could someone please help me?

It's a definite scam - just because you don't see mention of WalMart, MG, WU or Cameroon doesn't make it legitimate.

The domain unitedpetairways.com was registered in April by someone using a privacy service to hide their identity. Legitimate companies do not need to hide themselves behind such services.

The best thing to do is buy your puppy locally, so that you can see it and not only avoid this type of scam but also make sure that the puppy is healthy.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

I bet you if you continued talking to her, she would tell you what the fee is and ask for gift cards, western union, money gram, etc. Sometimes they don't jump right into it.
