This is a common scam script with the scammer or other membes of his gang playing the different roles.

The next email will be a request for a payment to be sent to fake shipping company.

Any pictures sent to you were stolen from other sites and the scammer does not have any birds.

It is ALWAYS a scam
If the pet seller or shipper asks for money to be sent via Western Union, Money Gram, any brand of gift card. Walmart To Walmart , Zelle , PayPal friends and family option, or mentions Cameroon

Good morning thanks for the mail... she will be ship fine to you with insurance from the shipping agent so you have nothing to worry about i will like you to get back to me with your full name and delivery address so i can forward it to the shipping company and get it registered.

Thanks
God bless.

-Thought I would play "along" with the scammer..and was hoping to find the name of the shipping company and check them out or report them so I sent this email-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hello Mr Russell

Thank you for your reply

Oh my sounds like such a sweet bied you have and I am very interested

Just wondering how to get the bird

You put it on a plane by itself??I wonder if the poor thing will be scared and if that isn't gonna be too hard on her

Where in Nevada are you locateed..I am thinking maybe I will just come out and pick your bird up and pay you what you are asking for a rehoming fee..

The scammers themselves are almost certainly sitting in Africa so it won't make any difference. They may continue, or they may drop you after you suggested you might pick the bird up, because their entire scam depends on you paying for the bird sight unseen.

There will not be a real shipping company involved. The scammers will do one of two things:

--Reference a real shipping company (even putting a link to a real website in their email) but giving you an email address to contact that is not connected to the real shipper. For example, if there was a real company called "send my puppies" (I'm making the name up) they would send you a link to the real website at www.sendmypuppies.com but would direct you to an email address like "[email protected]"
--Direct you to their own fake website that is not connected to any real company. In other words, they might actually create a website www.sendmypuppies.com -- but it will be a recent registration, made with fake details, and won't be traceable to any real person.

Assuming your email address is traceable to your real information, we do not recommend continuing any further with this scammer. Baiting scammers (playing along to get information) is best done using ALL untraceable information. We have another website, www.419eater.com that addresses safety in baiting.

thank you very much for the info Dottie....I will not send them any more info to them....I just wish there was a way to catch them as people like this disqust me...I did report the original ad in craigs list as spam..

I replied to this ad also & I sent $ by moneygram I saw this ad after I sent It so wat should I do
by Dotti Sun Jan 27, 2013 10:43 pm
Unfortunately, if the money was picked up, it is lost. There is essentially no chance of getting it back.

If the money has not been picked up, you need to contact Moneygram ASAP and ask them to cancel the transaction immediately.

I contacted moneygram got money back got email saying they ars shipping parrot tomarrow
by Dotti Sun Jan 27, 2013 11:11 pm
I'm very glad you got hold of moneygram before the criminals got your money.

That's a standard scammer response. They continue to pretend they are real after you send the money. If they had picked up the money, tomorrow they would have contacted you telling you that there was some kind of problem, and that you would have to send more money to ship the bird.

When they realize the money is not there, they will likely contact you again, threatening you for reversing the payment. They may threaten you with the police and/or FBI, claiming that you are going to be charged with something. They may even contact you with a new address, pretending to be FBI or some other law enforcement agency. These are nothing more than attempts to steal your money a different way. You hav broken no contract and you have done nothing wrong. You cannot be charged with any kind of crime, as you have not committed one.

They are thieves who are trying to collect money from unsuspecting people for a bird they do not even have. They have made no arrangements with any airline. They have spent nothing. They have just sat at a computer sending emails to support their fake stories.

The best thing you can do is ignore any further contact from ANYONE about the (pretend) bird. Just don't respond.

Could you also post the email address and/or website you were given for the "shipper?"

well I had replied to another complete different add on craigs list in another part of my state..michigan and quess what....got the same response letter from mr Kennnethey this morning....I flagged it as spam on craigs list but I doubt that they even look at those...I have never posted anything on Craigs list but don't you have to give address phone number etc when you open an account on craigs list to sell something??? just wondering if this would be a way to catch them...but I imagine the low life scuds probably give fake numbers to...
by Dotti Mon Jan 28, 2013 9:44 am
You have answered your own question correctly.

The Craigslist ads will be placed using scammer accounts with fake info; real accounts that have been phished or hacked, or they will be placed by unsuspecting people who think they have a job advertising for a legitimate breeder. Ultimately, they will not lead to the scammers.
