Scams selling or giving away non-existent animals, often Puppy Scams.

I also just discovered an English Bulldog scam this weekend, thankfully I caught on before sending any money! This was an ad ran in our local papers classified ads and was from a Van Chapple using [email protected] for an email address. Unfortunately before I could inform the paper or copy the ad he removed it, but I believe he has already re-posted another ad.

He claimed that he was a military employee and his wife was a registered nurse and had to relocate to an apartment so they needed to re-home three dogs Cindy, Whiskii, and Simba. The cost was the first alarming thing but I continued to check into as he stated they would have to go to shelter Mon morning if not adopted out so I thought well maybe it's legit. He proceeded to do a "home check" interview as most breeders do and then once I finished he approved me. I started asking pick up details and it all became clear.

Conveniently they already moved to OH and would have to ship the puppy (yeah right). When I told him I was frustrated and didn't understand why he would run the ad in the Jackson MI paper he replied that they are in such a rush and since shipping is an option he ran the ad in all counties. He refused to give the name of the delivery company and then after four attempts to get the name he came up with a story about using the Dayton OH airport. I contacted the airport and confirmed they did not ship animals in the manner he was claiming. At this time he started being very short and demanding I get payment in the form of Ukash or Paysafe because his Paypal was down from the address change. He claimed he was shipping Cindy to GA for another lady and could arrange the delivery at the same time and we would have the puppy by 7 pm same night. Fortunately I had a friend that did utilize a delivery service and it was definitely not a one day deal so that set of another alarm. Also, I had never heard of either of these payment methods and found that they are both companies based out of UK and it is next to impossible to retrieve any money back.

My next move was to look this seller up because he provided me with a phone number and address so I did some searches and it lead me to this scamwarners site along with some fake Facebook profiles. Once I discovered this I decided I would reverse the roles and decided to arrange a cash in person pick up since it was only a 4 hour drive it was plausible. He decided that he would only be home at 9:30 at night and only for a short window trying to make it impossible to work out. I told him that would be fine and I would be there on the dot and requested an additional photo of whiskii with himself or "wife". This made him so angry he text me " no seriously you got me pissed off" along with a few more messages indicating how rude I was and insulting my questions were. In the end he refused to tell me what his role in the military was, name of the shipping company, his full name, his wife's name, or send any pictures of the dog with a human.

I replied "back at ya" and that I passed on the dogs believing he is operating a scam and he replied "ok and sorry for sounding that way above. Thanks for your time"

I did call the apartment complex that he stated he lived in and they in fact do allow dogs, do not have a tenant by his name, and assured me they do not give out grace periods to get rid of animals!

Welcome to scamwarners!

I'm glad you caught on to the scam before losing any money.

The scammer is actually located in Africa, and has never owned an English Bulldog in his life. The dogs in the photos were never in his possession, and he has never even seen them himself. He simply stole some random photos from a real breeder's website or a photo sharing site. If you search them in google, you might find an originating site.
