Scams selling or giving away non-existent animals, often Puppy Scams.

I advertised on a site called cats for adoption. I was contacted by a guy called Cole Fletcher who supposedly lived in Blackpool. He sent pictures of the kitten and I arranged a lift with a friend to collect the kitten from Blackpool. When I asked for the address he gave me a local address to my home, I queried it and he said it was his sisters address because he had spent the day there. I asked if he could leave the cat there as it was close to home, he then said he visited his sister infrequently and his landlady did not like him bringing people into the apartment, so he suggested that I arrange a courier.

I looked into couriers and they were too expensive so he said he had looked into them and they were not that expensive I said I still could not afford that amount, he offered to help me out and negotiations began. It was decided that I would pay £30-00 towards transport. He arranged delivery and the company TLC Pet Transport asked for £60-00 so the arguements began, also they were supposed to take COD but then said they did not and I would have to buy a paysafecard even providing a list of paypoint outlets. On visiting the paypoints they did not do the vouchers. It was at this point that they said pay by Western Money Gram and sent an internet link for payment it was all in French. Then they asked for the mtcn number, I had to phone Money gram as had not been sent the number..They confirmed the payment as received and sent flight details and arrival time. Then they started asking for a customer number and where was the travel arranged from. I didn't have this information, they were phoning and emailing and reporting back to the so called cats owner, he was emailing as well saying I had not followed their instructions and that I had not made payments. It felt like being hassled from all sides, also when they phoned could not understand them as they were foreign. They then said that the payment had been sent to the wrong place to cancel it and resend to a different address. Nkakeu Kansi Yves Samuel, Cameroun, Ville Douala, 18 Rue TLC Pets Transport, Code postal 00237. I phoned western moneygram to cancel the transaction and they said it was a scam. At the same time the so called owner of the cat was also emailing and saying the cat was stuck and he was distressed etc. I then reported all the email addresses and phone numbers to the police. I then sent an email saying it was a scam and the police had been informed not to contact me again, but he continues to email me saying I insulted him when he tried to help with the cost of sending the cat and if I change my mind contact him.

Thankyou browneyesblue for the report. Yes indeed it's a scam. When thinking of buying a pet, it's always best to source one locally from your own vicinity, and never get involved with shipping or where a courier needs to be involved. The tlc scam has been around for probably 12 months from what I know.
