My name is Martin and my family almost got pet-scammed this week! Thanks to Scamwarners, I was finally able to convince my wife she was being scammed.

I was suspicious from the beginning, but my wife tends to follow her heart before her mind, so when she fell in love with a cute puppy, she did not suspect any fraud...
Luckily she still does have some sense of caution, so we where able to unmask the whole thing as a scam before we made any payments. But it was a close call!

Unfortunately, my wife deleted the initial email because I was skeptic from the beginning. She kept all following emails when the person contacted her again. However, those emails were sent through the email-system of "Marktplaats", so I do not think you can get any useful information from them. No telephone numbers were given.

So the only information I have from them is:

- Username on "Marktplaats": lindarotty
- Email address used (only once): [email protected]
- Name used in emails: Alita Timah
- Home address in Spain given: Carrer de Pomaret 12, 08017 Barcelona, Spain

While we where lookin for pups, we also came in contact with another seller. The story was very similar to the one we did get involved with:

This is a typical pet scam script used by the pet scammers located in Western Africa.
