Rental Scam: [email protected]

I just tried to contact a renter on craigslist, and received this email after messaging them on their "personal" email account. Sounds pretty sketchy... also with a telephone number that connects to a landline in Oregon.

For immediate move in you would be required to make a total payment of $1000 but if you are not moving in Immediately, you would be required to make a down payment of $500 for the security deposit Non- negotiable, to hold property till desired move in date.

2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathroom.
You are to occupy 1 Private room & 1 private bath with no share
Location: 2 Westchester Ave # 4P White Plains,NY 10601.

Pets Allowed: Cats and Dogs.
Room is available for immediate move in.


The price including the utilities like: WiFi, Hydro,washer,It is furnished, Flat screen TV with Cable, The kitchen is totally equipped with electrical oven,microwave,refrigerator, washing machine and dryer. It has a parking in the same property. You will have your own toilet, bath and you will use the whole kitchen.

Unfortunately, I left for Sherman Texas to occupy my Late Grandfather's house, I left due to my health conditions, I am a deaf, i cant speak and hear you, but i can read sign, The room is available for a short and long term because i will be occupying my Grandfather's house. and I do not have a local representative to show you round the apartment, so if you are interested in renting the room and willing to work with me despite my absence then I would email the necessary papers for the lease to you, for necessary endorsement. I also want to tell you that the neighborhood is secured and the people staying there are good.

I have also attached some of the pictures of the interior so that you can have an idea how beautiful and spacious the inside looks and we can proceed to the next step.

Thank you for your respond i must say i really appreciate it.To be honest with you, a whole lot of people are contacting me regarding my apartment which i am renting out one room and one bath with no share, but i am not sure of who to accept due to bad past experience i have heard about other people who gave out there Apt for share, so i am taking my time to look for a responsible person,that can take proper care of my home apartment,as if it is his/her own.

You will be so lucky to have the room because you will be only one occupying 1 Private room with no one to share and 1 Private bath with no share with you and also the kitchen, you will have access to every part of my home, such as the living room, the kitchen except my own room that is locked, i am doing this because i am a devoted and committed christian, I know i have my own personal problem which is my health conditions, I am a deaf, i cant speak and hear you, but i can read sign but i know God loves me and created me that way. Also you can see also the price is far low, all i need is someone with a good heart that will help me take good care of my property that's the more reason i put it for share, i will be coming time to time every 3 months to check on it.

Well that certainly doesn't bode well.

I got the same scam for an apartment in Chicago. I'm in the bank about to pull money out to send to them but then thought about investigating more. They sent me the same exact text in the email and sent me pictures of them and a certificate of occupancy even. Thank god they used their real pictures I think cuz they don't seem like the type of people who can afford a condo in the area that the place for rent is at. That's why I investigated. is there a way for me to attach their photos to this post?

Hello all! I'm happy to see this post about these Craigslist scammers. My husband is the superintendent of the building in White Plains, NY in which the scammers are sending people to apt. 4p. Just yesterday a young lady rang my husband and asked if she could see the apt. He told her that it is not available and that we know the owners of the unit, she was devastated!! She had already sent the scammers $2500. to get into the place for herself and her husband who is in the military! The owners of 4P have also said that others have gotten into the building before and banged on their door saying the apt. was rented to them. I feel so horrible about this! Our first experience with this was when my stepson was looking for an apt in White Plains a few months ago and was writing this person back and forth..they mentioned they are Christians and want someone trustworthy to watch over their place. Also his wife was pregnant and that they had to move away for some reason I can't remember. My stepson knows the building and the apt. was advertised with 2 bed 2 bath..he knows there is not a single apt. in this building that has two bathrooms! He is 19 and was almost fooled!! I don't now how to stop this or if there is a way!! Please people be careful out there!! It's really a shame that people can feel good about doing this to others. Please-DO NOT!! give money to anyone that you cannot meet in person and that cannot show you the place! Be skeptical of anyone who wants you to MAIL them $

I'm the latest attempted sucker(victim) good thing I followed my gut instinct and searched this scumbag! I feel like working with the authorities to nab his sorry ass!

I recently contacted ERNEST BOWYER about Apt. 53 of 3526 82nd st Jackson Heights, NY which was listed via CL also. I had originally called and texted and he told me to email him personally. His email address is [email protected] and his email name is God Son. All the above information written by him was sent to me also.

I'm glad I followed my gut after he sent me that wonky looking Certificate of Occupancy.
