Room for Rent and other rental scams
by txelugp Sat Apr 30, 2011 11:47 am
Hi,

I'm trying to rent an apartment in London for a short period of time and I found this company that offers really nice places for really good deals. I also read in this forum that a company calledLondon Suites was a Scam. This guys only accept bank transfers. So I'm afraid that this company could be also a scam.

The only info posted is the web www.kensington-suites.co.uk and Emily & Richard Lloyds (Owner) on the email.

Could somebody provide with some info?
Thanks.

3 day old website set up by a UK individual by the name of 'Eric Johnny'.

London Hyde Park Vacation Flats Apartment is an online Self Catering Apartment Booking service......................

They can't even be bothered to change the name they use on the 'About Us' page.

They need to sack their pot smoking web site builder.

It's a scam by one of our most regular scammers and clearly their standards are slipping.

Our revered 'site killers' are probably getting them down.

It's a scam - and it will soon be gone.

This gang frequently have accomplices in the UK whose bank accounts they launder funds through. It won't be a company account they offer - so don't let the offer of a bank account make you believe it must be honest. Unless you get a company account from a properly registered company - don't even bother.

Non-EU citizens should go here to find out about obtaining a visa to work as an au pair in the UK

If you Google the contact phone number

+44 (0) 845 299 6024

you'll see why they are getting confused over what their name is.

You'll notice that the previous website is no longer there :=) and this one won't be for much longer.

They combine being crooked with being pitifully stupid too. :=)

Thank you :=)

We get a kick in knowing that your money isn't going in to a scammer's pocket :D

We don't get many thank-you posts from scammers. I wonder why. :=)

I enquired this morning about a 2 month let for summer, got a very fast reply but when I asked about booking a viewing because I'm sadly aware of scams, I received no reply...thought they may be busy but also thought I should do some searching and found this post! Thank you both!

Hi, just found out that this website is a scam, they have taken over 700 pounds from me.
Any advice on how I could go about trying to reclaim this, or is it a lost cause?

Many thanks, wish i'd seen this sooner

They are still active and scamming people on gumtree, using the kensington suites site when emailing you. I reported it to gumtree.

I'm so glad I found your website. I was suspicious, but the suites website did look quite professional.

This is written under the Emails:

My cousin almost got scammed by this. she lives in india and saw the advert from ken suites on gumtree - so their ads are still appearing on there!!! can they ever be stopped? i tried calling the number and an american voice told me the number was temporarily unavailable. the person who gave her a quote had this address: [email protected]. i have mailed back asking him if he will let me see the flat before my cousin pays. and his email said: AT THE TIME OF BOOKING WE ARE ABLE TO ACCEPT BANK TRANSFER ONLY! and lastly, the rate for a studio in that prime location was only 40 per night. too good to be true. thank goodness for your site which warned me!

just wondering if anyone can tell whether http://lovingapartments.com/ is also a scam site? i called the number on the site and someone actually answered. they took some details and said that they would call me back but didn't hear back from them. will try again tomorrow and let you know how i fare. but if you have any info on it, please let me know. when i searched nothing came up the way i did for kensington suites.

LOVINGAPARTMENTS.COM

Domain registration is consistent with a legitimate site, not a fake.
Site itself also looks real.
Keep in mind that we can only advise you as to whether the site is likely to be an advance fee scam. In this case, it does not appear to be a scam. We cannot advise you as to the quality of their service.

I did find one discussion on tripadvisor--even though the poster wasn't happy the scenario is consistent with a legitimate broker. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g188590-i60-k4623053-Lovingapartments_com_Don_t_Bother-Amsterdam_Noord_Holland.html

So this site is not advance fee scam.
