I have to say, if I were looking for a place to rent, the "juice machine" would be the selling point...

Ron Tomason is running the same scam in Vancouver, offering the same apartment at a gasping $700/month all inclusive in downtown Vancouver, the most expensive rental area in Canada.
The address is actually at car park.
A friend photoshopped his pics and confirmed they were definitely not anywhere in BC's lower mainland. I had noticed right away the appliances weren't North American.
The syntax in his copy has a definite "I'm a prince from Uganda and can make you rich if you help me transfer my money to Canada by sending your bank information...." read to it.

This same guy has struck again, this time from Oakville, Ontario. He's changed his name to Ron McConnell and now has two email addresses going for him, [email protected] and [email protected] (which is the listed one on Craigslist).

His most recent Craigslist post says:

His first email is an exact copy of the one listed here, except there's a new name and location. Still questioning his intentions, I replied and got a second email which, when I looked up 'internet rental scams', fit the basic profile of a scam letter to a T. This brought me to searching both email addresses, leading me here. The other address is obviously brand new; it's only been available on Craigslist for 3 days. Watch out for this guy, he's obviously got loads of pre-written responses to send out to take your money. They don't seem to follow the usual scamming characteristic of being mis-spelled and, considering the end of his his latest email address, I think he does reside here, unlike many scammers. His main mistake appears to be that he's too stupid to change his email between scams.

This is the second email I received from him after responding with generic info (I suspected him enough to barely skim the basics of my renting needs):

Right now I`m out of town, I'm in London, England. I got the opportunity to open a franchise ( a small business ) in London, England. We've tried to develop a family business but unfortunately the things didn't work the way we've expected and now I am at one step from losing my market.

I had all my family moved here for 3 years. I want to start a new life here, in 3 years I will decide if I will keep that apt, and get back in town or if I will sell it and move forever in England.

This is the second time I tried to rent the apartment... I had a deal with somebody before who said he will rent the apartment if I come back... So i got a plane ticket, and guess what? When I arrived there, he didn't show up and after 2 days he gave me a call and said that he is sorry but he can't rent it anymore... How do i know if you have enough money?!

Please DO NOT REPLY to this e-mail if you don't have the amount available, or if you don't intend to be serious! So don't get me wrong and don't take it personally, but now I don't want to buy another plane ticket to come and fall for it once more, maybe you wont show up. I don't have time to play games with other people.

Some times scammers change characters, but more often the steal a script or purchase a script and use it as their own. Stealing and lying is what scammers do.

Scammers do change email addresses, though I have known some that keep the same email address for years. They do what ever they can to take money from unsuspecting people. You post will help some one else who is checking out a rental.

I've begun scambaiting this guy and I'm my research I've found a couple more of his addresses and names.

In this Kijiji ad he's Bert Ferguson - [email protected] and another Craigslist ad names him as Steve Stone - [email protected].

I found him this time by googling the name of the shipping companies he wants me to use, "shipping will be done by DPD Air Express" or "InterLink Air Express". I can tell that its him because because the letter he sent those people are the same story and patterns as the ones from "Ron"

Although suspicious, I followed through with this scam until he asked for payment.He is using a posting and apartment in oakville, Ontario on craigslist for $510. The posting reads as follows:

When he replies it is from the address [email protected] so he is probably using multiple emails and forwarding them all to a central address which he replies from. I received a total of 6 emails, plus two supposedly from from interlink direct. I will post them all here for you.
