Find the attachment copy of my Ownership Certificate as proof of my rightful landlord and the lease agreement form for you to preview before the final print out and signature, do note that the parcel that will be mailed to you will contain the keys, payment receipt, signed lease agreement form and all every other necessary papers you needed to move into my apartment as soon as possible, so i will be glad if you could confirm the provided address below if that is the correct address where the keys and the documents are to be delivered to. I have a friend in Red Deer and have sent a request for a contact person so she can go and view it. I haven't heard back from "James Perry" with the email addy of [email protected]

I was suspicious of the listing being a scam considering the price listed, the second reply sent to me only increased it, and this forum confirmed it. This entire ordeal reinforces the old saying, "If it's too good to be true, it probably is."

I received a similar email about a rental apartment in Toronto from a "Joe Pavia <[email protected]" Thanks goodness for searching this company before giving them any information. It's so true. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Please post any new email address you may have on this scammer. It will help others also when they search.

The thief will tell you that you can rent his accommodation only if you can prove that you have genuine interest. He will ask you send money by a Money Transfer Service to yourself or a member of the family to show that you have sufficient finances and that you are not a "time waster".

Another variation of this scam is that you need to send money in order that the keys and other documents can be couriered to you

He will ask you to send him the transfer details.

Make no mistake ! These transfers can be picked up virtually anywhere in the world and with the minimum of identification. They are almost impossible to trace once the money has been collected. You will never get to see the accommodation or your money again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment by Western Union or other Money Transfer Services before viewing, then it will also be a scam.

Hey I just wanted to ask you guys whoever was scammed in a fraud like this did you report it to the police like were you able to get back your money or track them down somehow ? Thanks

While we do recommend reporting the crime (where to report depends on your country--in the US, you would report to IC3, while UK has action fraud), if you sent money by moneygram or Western Union and it has been picked up, it is gone. Sadly, you are not going to get it back.

Hey well I live in Canada so I think the police centre is where I go to report this or complaint but yes I did send money through money gram n it was picked up I found out about this after couple days so it was enough time for them to get the money n I know I won't be getting it back but I still wanna report it to the police because this is just not fair it can happen to someone else n I don't want someone else to become stupid n fool like I did I mean thats just how I feel right now so yah thanks for replying.
