Here is one I received today, I am glad I did some research cause I just about went for it. There are several gorgeous pictures attached as well. But when I went back to the original Kijiji link I replied to it was gone, which is what raised my suspicions. Beware out there. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

I'm not looking to make a business or a profit with the apartment, I'm just trying to find a good and trust person to take good care of the place. The apartment has 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom. It is furnished but if you want you can use your furniture and deposit mine in the storage unit that is located near the building not far away. The rent is 640 CAD/month with everything included (heat, hydro, water, electricity, cable and internet-full package from Rogers, 2 parking spots, laundry in-suite, washer and dryer). You will have full access to all the amenities of the building. Pets are allowed. I stayed in the apartment with my wife for 3 months. Hi everyone. Thanks for posting about this guy. He is trying to run the same scam here in Vancouver, BC under the name David Piatek. Almost fell for it but I knew it was too good to be true. Rent in this area should have been 2x the price. Anyway I copied his posting on craigslist in case the ad is taken down, you can see what he put:

I verified the message ip, and it comes from UNITED STATES, VIRGINIA, RESTON, but the guy says that he is in London, UK >>> he send me a email w/ a lot of pictures of the apartment, that was june 1.... today he put again the same ads on craigslist - the only way to contact him it by email >>> here down his reply to my questions:

This is 10x more of a piss off now that I know he's a scammer and he messaged me again. I reported him, his emails, his ip addresses/locations, and phone number to the canadian fraud site. Time to scam a scammer. Will post updates.

He strikes again!! This time he is trying to rent a property right downtown Toronto and using the company ClickandBuy to get the money.

He then wants you to send money before you have even seen the apt! TOTAL SCAM and I will be reporting him the authorities!


I will pay for a 2 days delivery so you will receive the keys and the contract signed by me right away. I will explain you step by step how this process will work:

1 - To start the process all I need is your full info(full name, address and a cell phone number).
2 - I will go at ClickandBuy to deposit the keys and the contract on your name as the intended receiver.
3 - ClickandBuy will check the package to see if everything is in order and also the legal papers that will come along with the keys and proof of ownership with their Real Estate Professional Department in London. They will also confirm with the building manager that I'm the legal owner of the apartment I'm renting to you.
4 - ClickandBuy will send you a delivery notification to let you know they have the keys and the papers in their custody in which you will also have all the payment instructions to complete the wire transfer to the ClickandBuy bank account .

He's doing it in Edmonton under the name Christopher Linser and using the email address [email protected]

It seems legit right up until he asks you for the money up front before you even get to see the apartment. The rent is ridiculous cheap for a furnished bachelor downtown - about half of what you would expect to pay. He sends pictures of a beautiful suite and even sends a picture of his passport to prove he is legit. Thank god I searched his name before I sent any money and found this thread.

He sent me a few emails every day until I searched him and found out it was a scam. As soon as I emailed him back saying I knew it was a scam and I would be reporting him he immediately stopped sending me emails. Does anyone know how I can go about reporting him? It makes me sick to my stomach that there are people out there doing this and even more sick to my stomach that I almost fell for it! Ugh.

Hello! I have had the same exact thing happen to me. Report him to authorities and also watch out for a man who calls himself James donohoe also claiming to be a civil engineer who "won" an auction in Rome. "James" contacted me in late February. And this "Chris" person. Has tried in the past week. Good luck and be careful!

The price will not increase for the whole period that you will stay there.
