Welcome to Scamwarners. There's no need to worry about the details you sent him. They aren't enough for identity fraud. He may use your photo in another scam, but that won't impact on you.

Subject: I'm ready to secure the room

Hi Michelle Banks

My name is Kerry Johnson and it's nice to hear from you. I'm a 27 year old, 5'7 straight female and very much single! A very simple, easy going and quiet person to live with. I won't be able to come and view the room as am presently in South Africa where i live and working as a Training & Consultancy Manager in a firm called ( Central Mediation Services ).

My company would be responsible for all related expenses regarding my trip including my Air ticket with my subsequent rent during my stay , you can start charging my rent before my arrival i don't mind just let me know when you wish to start.

I was supposed to start my holiday last month but due to HR, my company has decided to move my six months annual leave to December So i should be arriving by mid of this month.

I don't drink, may sip a little wine though if it's white and of the occasion is right, neither do I smoke but do not mind being around people who do. I'm a very fun filled vibrant young lady with an appealing and sometimes annoying sense of humor, and I love to laugh, I take my best feature to be my teeth !.

I love traveling and I have a done a lot lately in my career as a mediation to expand beyond simply a process for resolving disputes. Been to Australia, Seychelles, Italy, France and I narrowly missed out on New York. I'm originally from South Africa and most of families still live here in Cape Town. I have an aunt in New Zealand too . I love sports, a very enthusiastic cricket fan and what's more I enjoy meeting people.

Am o.k with the price of the room and i would make a month payment of (£280) and the bond will be paid upon my arrival if its require before i move into the room, you will have to wait for me to have my update our account officer with the price of the room in order for my first month rent to be issue out to you cause my company would be responsible for my trip including my accommodation throughout my stay and i will be staying for 6 month.

In the meantime, I need you to provide me with the details below and the information will be use to issued out a cheque in your favor for my first month rent and have it sent to you immediately the payment is approved.

I am in Sydney and Kerry Johnson has a cheque on the way to me from her company so she can move in to a room I advertised on a share accommodation website here. I smelt all was not right, that is why I am here after googling her gmail address. She is also using kerrysingle@gmail now. I received the same mails from her word for word but her memory is going astray as she sent me the same mail twice and I suspected it was a drafted letter.
Thank you for being there to warn us of these people. I may play her game and then hand the cheque over to Australian authorities to see if it has any result.
Regards Sydneygreg!

Thanks Greg. ;)
Here's the final payment email:

Hi,

There is a small problem, My company where i work gave me ( Three Thousand Five Hundred Euros ) worth of travelers cheque to spend for my holiday in Australia which would include money for my first month rent and the rest to buy my flight ticket with medical aid and my traveling allowances.

Our company account officer who sent the cheques did a very big mistake, instead of her to send you ( $500 AUD ) for my one month rent but she sent you the whole Three Thousand Five Hundred Euros. We have quarreled bitterly about this issue but we've finally reach a conclusion that i should speak to you about it.

I should have asked my account officer to cancel the cheques but the original cheque that was sent to you needs to be produced at bank before we can cancel the cheque and if you're asked to return the cheque its going to take sometime before we can get it over here and reissue another one. I have waited for a very long time for this holiday to be approved and i wouldn't want it to be cancel.

I believe you are a credible person and i should be able to trust you so i believe there should not be any problem about the mistake my account officer made. Once you receive the cheque please notify me via email so i can instruct you on how are going to ex-change the cheque at your bank.

And I would also provide you with the details of where to send the rest of the money to me after you've deducted my rent once you receive the cheques cause i will still need the rest of the money on the cheque to buy my flight ticket over and also do little shopping before departing for Australia.

Am sorry for any inconvenience this might cost you but i hope you do understand my circumstances and please contact me immediately you receive the cheque in hand.

Thanks for your co-operation
Kerry.

Well I guess I had to loose my "scam virginity" at some stage so it may as well be a week before Xmas!
How naive I was, upon waking this morning, to feel so excited and grateful my housemate search was over and, in it's stead, was the sheer anticipation of a reply from Kerry Single, pertaining to the arrival date of the deposit cheque I was stupidly expecting.
And how decidedly human and exposed I now feel, in contrast, while I bide time waiting, in vain, amongst the constant pangs of humiliation and shock, for sleep to strangle me away from consciousness.
Away from consciousness long enough, I pray, so that my ego and faith in human nature may recover enough to cope with the inevitable same feelings, all over again, in the morning...................

I know most of you, fellow victims to this hateful woman, have simply chosen to ignore any further contact with her and not give her any more of your effort or energy, but I couldn't help myself, and sent her 1 last final reply...............
Hey Kerry!
I know this is a scam now so, contrary to what others probably choose to do and just ignore you, I’d like to tell you, before I end any future contact with you, how utterly sad and disappointed I am, to realise that there actually are people like you in the world.
People that feed off other people’s sincerity and kindness.

Yes, I really do feel like such an idiot but I just feel sad more than anything.
You have wasted valuable time of mine, in finding a suitable housemate, especially so close to Xmas, so I hope that in knowing how terrible you have made me and my young daughter feel, has, in some ugly but satisfying way, been enough to stem the urge you feel, to give innocent people false hope.
I wish, more than anything now, that we will now be the last people to fall prey to your unkindness.

I hope you find what it is, that makes you happy, without it being at the expense of other people.

Kat

Strangely enough, posting this has made me feel a little better...............

@funkicat and others...

Many Thanks for flushing this scammer out and confirming my reservations; I was going to call as I had reservations about someone flying in and wanting an unfurnished room, so I pointed out I didn't have a bed and got a more personal, but badly written reply.

Hi Con,

Thanks for your concern and Yes I'm aware the room is not furnished, I will buy few furnitures upon my arrival but I will need a bed to sleep the night i arrive. Please keep an eye close to your post box for the envelop and email me immediately you receive the cheque in hand.

Also wait for my reply before you take it to the bank at all , so i can instruct you on how to ex-change the cheque at your bank and how to transfer the rest of the money to me.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Regards
Kerry.

And this...

Hi Con,

How are you doing at the moment!

I'm happy to inform you that the cheque has been approved and sent to your provided address this morning, I have received a notification from my Account Officer.

In addition, my Account Officer stated the Postal Service attendant said it will takes about ( 10 Working Days ) for the envelop to be deliver to you in Australia , you can start charging my rent before my arrival if you wish, just let me know the date you wish to start

Please be patient and keep an eye close to your postbox for the envelop cause postal service attendant said you might receive the envelop earlier than the time stated. I will forward my flight details to you as soon as i book my ticket and you can pick me up at airport if you're free.

Warmest Regards
Kerry.

I went for a more humorous reply...

Dear Kerry

Thanks for your response. I am concerned about the lack of a bed, but mine is free. You are welcome to join me, but it will require for you to perform various sexual acts on me… and possibly my dog, if she is up to it.

I will pick you up at the airport; this is too dangerous a neighbourhood for you to wander around on your own; there are crack dealers everywhere, and I wouldn’t want you to get ripped off on your first deal. I tend to get bulk discounts.

Looking forward to your cheque. Should I put you down for a kilo of Moroccan gold?

Cheers
Con

Hi Guys,
I was just about to head to the bank and wanted to contact her because it was so close to christmas and I have the cheques in my hot little hand. They look real and I am so pleased that I just looked her name and number up to ring her as the bank wont be open till Wed. This website popped up. All I am saying is thankyou to this website. Am about to ring the fraud squad.

Cheers Quasi :D
