Room for Rent and other rental scams

So sorry for you... I felt exactly the same thing about this, how people can do that?

For the bank, they told you there was nothing to do? Because mine tried to cancel the transaction, i know there's not a lot of hope but if you did it a few days ago (let's say less than 4-5 days), maybe there's a way to cancel. I'll also go to see the police but i don't know how they can act with this...

Hi.
This scammer is still at large, he has an ad up in Norway on the biggest subletting-site Finn.no
http://www.finn.no/finn/realestate/lettings/object?finnkode=38711322
When you contact him the mail is sent to [email protected] but the reply comes from Paul Anderson <[email protected]> with the exact same text as mentioned over.

Thanks in part too google and this forum I was able to figure it out before going further. Thanks!

Ok, this website http://truliaimmo-uk.com/ has been detected as a phishing website. That is great but it won't stop the scammers; so this is really important to detect all the fakes websites they use and prevent the access... How can we do that? I just want to stop those people, i can't stand that they keep on acting like that...

The post below was made by a scammer in order to thieve from individuals with a "Recovery Scam".
You can see a good example of how recovery scams work in the following link

Do not contact the person using the name "Dylan Hoss" who made the post below!

Seems like Adam Konowalski has manage to inherit an apartment in Dublin and moved on from Trulia...

Found a great apartment, just what we we're looking for. Finally got a mail back from the advertiser, Adam Konowalski, which I answered. After this the rentalsite sent me an email to inform me that this might be a scam. Got a new email from Adam, but with the warning that there might me something fishy going on, did some googling and found my way here.

Can't copy paste right now, I'll but the whole mails here later. The mails are almost word to word the same as here, except that the apartment is inherited from his grandfather, he's in Britain and the company who will handle the money/key transfer is called HF Rentals, which I can't find a website for in Ireland.

Justin is still at it only now his/her name is Annie Cranford. got the same message as Justin sends about having bought the apartment for her son who is now living permanently in London.
I was suspicious when I read the message so decided to check it out. Who tells you their own profession when they are renting an apt. The moral of the story is 'If it sounds too good to be true, then it generally is!'

True to form and previous posts here is the reply I got from 'Annie Cranford' today
Hello

"Thank you for your reply but the thing is that I'm in United Kingdom already. Like I have inform you before, the price you must pay on the first month of rent will be 600 eur + 600 eur security deposit ( 1200 eur ), with no extra fees . I must have one month rent + security deposit from you. The money, I want to receive it monthly to my bank account, so I hope it will be no problem for you to wire the money to my bank account. The apartment is ready for you, you will need only to receive the keys and the contract to check it, and see if you like it. Obviously we need a way to complete this deal, that will allow us to make sure we receive what we are after. So i have found a way for us to complete the deal safely and fast, and in this way you will receive the Keys in less than 2 days, if you move fast as well . The solution is provided by a rental company called Trulia Real Estate which is similar to FedEx or UPS , Escrow ... etc, which will handle both payment and delivery of the keys. I have found a procedure that will allow you receive the keys of it and through this way you will see it and decide if you will stay in the apt or not before I receive my payment. To start this transaction, I need your full name, address and telephone number. I will also need to know the rental period and the day you want to move in so I can put it in the contract. I will pay for the services of the agency, so there will be no costs for you. Also, in case you have another apartment right now, and you cannot move out immediately, we can make the deal as I explained it now, and consider it only an inspection and reservation.
I look forward to hear from you soon."

The name of Barclays Bank keeps cropping up as a bank particularly favoured by fraudsters.

It's not good business to be seen by fraudsters as a pushover, or to have your account holders seen as having a greater than normal risk of being scammers.

Any body offering escrow services in the UK must be registered and regulated by the FSA and this must be quoted on their website so that people can double check it. This makes the matter a whole lot worse. Operating the account of a fake and unauthorised fraudulent escrow company. It's almost like a bank holding the account of a fake bank. :yikes:

It's a disgrace that such a bank account has lasted so long.

Their previous scam website was http://rentestatte.com

and from this screenshot it can be seen to have been, more or less, a clone

More to come.

There's more.

It seems there are lots of these.

I'll get them recorded and detailed in due course.

All those sites I've mentioned have either, already been put up for incineration, or I have added them.
