Subject: Re: $750CAD MODERN STUDIO IN DOWNTOWN
To: <[email protected]>
Hello,
First of all I would like to tell you that I have attached all the pictures that I have with the apartment, so you can have a good idea of how it looks like. The apartment looks and it comes exactly like in the pictures, fully furnished.
The apartment is located on 131 Regiment Square, V6B 1X6.
The rent is $750CAD per month with all utilities included (heat, hydro, water, electricity, cable and internet-full package, 2 parking spots, laundry in-suite, washer and dryer). You will have full access to all the amenities of the building. Also there are no problems if you have pets.
Everything in the apartment is new so there will be no need for repairs
I want to try and give you some insight into who I am. My name is Larry Dennis Papp, I am married and I have one child, a boy, I am an engineer and now I received an excellent contract in London, United Kingdom.
Please also describe yourself if you are really interested, so I can have an idea about you and the people that will be living in my home. I'm very selective as to who I choose, I hope you understand me! Also please tell me what do you do for a living, is there going to be a problem to cover the rent?
I’m not looking to make a business or a profit with it, I just want to find the proper tenant cover my mortgage and utilities.
From my point of view you will love the apartment, and if the location fits your needs, you will rent it on the spot.
If you are still interested I am waiting your reply.
Regards,
Larry

Hi
From what I can tell, you are fit to live in my apartment, and I am sure that we can know each other better when we will meet to show you the place. Unfortunately there is a problem showing you the apartment, because I already left with my job in United Kingdom, and the keys are with me. I could leave the key to an neighbor or the building manager to show the apartment to interested people, but also in this case, I should come over and sign the rental agreement. So I prefer to keep the keys and fly over there and rent the apartment in person. And this is the only way I want to do this.
Before I had to leave for United Kingdom I had someone interested in the apartment, he said that he will take the apartment, I waited for him, but unfortunately he didn't managed to get the money to rent it (first month rent+damage deposit), I had to leave and I was unable to rent the apartment when I was still there. Obviously this brought me financial loss. So I can tell that I had bitter experience of making reservation for people without any form of confirmation of their financial ability. And now it is even harder for me to make an reservation knowing that I have to take a couple of days off from work and also invest in a plane ticket which is expensive without having any confirmation of your financial ability.
So don’t get me wrong and don’t take it personally, but now I don’t want to buy a plane ticket to come and fall for it once more… maybe you won’t show up. I’m sick of tire-kickers, people who are just looking around and not serious about renting, so please don’t waste my time… No offense!
The problem is that I need to book an plane ticket and I have to take a couple of days off from work and show you the apartment, no problem this can be arranged. But I require an lease for a minimum of 6 months.
My lawyer advise me on this situation and we agreed that would not be fair to ask you to send any money (deposit) in advance because it will be inappropriate for me to collect any money from you neither my lawyer before viewing the apartment.
So he told me an way in which I can get peace of mind and not ask you to send any money to me.
If you are interested let me know and I will explain you how this goes.
Also here is my phone number: +44 2032 896 877. Please give me your phone number also in your next email.
Regards,
Larry
This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram, pre-paid credit card or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.
Sounds safe. It's not!
At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.
In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.
All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.
If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
