Yes, they are part of a gang we've ran across alot lately. They're very effective, as it only takes 1-2 days from initial contact to payment. There are many sites of them we have already closed down, yet new ones keep reappearing. The site listed above will be down soon. In the meanwhile, stay away from the gang operating with the email adress [email protected] (or similar). Telephone number: +44 (0)703 598 2360

I can't stress enough that these guys are notorious scammers, and you should avoid doing business with them at all cost!

By the same gang:

Names:

The palace reservation (or a variation with the words "palace reservation city home rentals")
Kings Home Apartments
Fun City Homes
Dee Kings Holiday City
The Base Reservation
Awesomereservationpalace Rentals
Endowed Apartments

They change names constantly to avoid being tracked. If you think you are dealing with these scammers under a different name, please don't hesitate to post and ask!

I called the FTC today, and anyone who was scammed by them should do the same, it's easy to catch them as long as the police wants to. BTW they had a very nice website www.flatlettings.com I hope they will get caught, dont care about the money those BASTARDS.
by Michael Wed Aug 25, 2010 3:28 am
Hello chiara25 and OferR, welcome to scamwarners. I wish we could have met under better circumstances, though :(. I'm very sorry to hear you have been scammed by these criminals.

@chiara: I'd advise you to go to your local police office and tell tham about what happened. They can build a case against them and gather evidence.

I'm afraid that both your money cannot be retrieved. Unlike what Western Union sometimes claims, it is possible to pick up money anywhere in the world when provided the MTCN and sender's name. Most of the times all it takes is to bribe a WU clerk and they can happily pick up the money in Africa, even though you sent it to the US. It's also far from easy to find the scammers, as many are operating from internet cafes with fake names and disposable cell phones. Making an arrest is virtually impossible.

This doesn't mean that it shouldn't be reported to the authorities! As long as they think it's not that big of a problem they won't take action at all to increase the catch rate.

I want you both to be careful in the future for the recovery scam. It's possible that you'll receive a mail claiming that your scammers have been caught and that you can get your money back. However, first some documents will have to be filled out, and some fees will have to be paid. Obviously this is only a scheme to steal more money. The chances of you actually getting your money back are practically zero, I'm afraid.

Thanks for your reply. i've talkrd today to all sorts of law offices in the US and i now realize i will never see my money back. BUT what makes me sad the most is to see those bastards keep on working and posting new offers on Craiglist. the new one shows an exact website as it was before with new address - http://www.holidayapartmentrentals.net/index.html
BE aware of it !!!! I am so mad!!! Chiara, please update me what is new with you 8)

In the end it's just money - i'd rather see it goes to charity and not to those thiefs.

Best of luck, i hope that by adding this website i saved someone's money. it's too bad Craiglist don't do anything about this guys!!!
by Michael Wed Aug 25, 2010 4:57 pm
By adding this website you have just set the gears in motion to bring the site down. I'll set my minions to work to get it closed down as soon as possible. Great work! :D

Thanks Michael! i wish i had known about this site before!

I just don't understand why good ppl like you need to do it and not the guys from Craiglist who give the platform and the opportunity to scam others. :(
by chiara25 Thu Aug 26, 2010 6:34 pm
thanks guys for all the reply!
yesterday morning I went to the postal police(the department for web fraud) here in Italy and other than take my infos they didn't do anything.
I know I won't have the money back,I don't care, but I really really want this people to stop..
the policeman told me that they won't do a lot cause it happened abroad and they don't have the possibility to investigate more;doing this they'll just let this people keep doing all this stuff.

by the way 3/4 days ago I used my friend's mail to write them to see if they would have replied(considering that they weren't getting back to me and I hadn't discovered I'd been fraud yet)and I wrote to the palacereservatiohome address, well, today he did reply from the new mail address

[email protected]

(I did reply telling him what I really think...hihiihih)
I really hope they won't be able to steal money from anybody else cause it's getting me mad,but not for the money,we all could have used or given it for way better reason!

I'll keep you updated if I have news..pls do the same!we have to beat them down!

Dear all
I'm new here and really lucky I foud this post BEFORE making a deposit. :oh-joy:
I found this very cheap appartment on craigslist NYC and as we planed to stay alomost a month, the deposit would have been 700$!!! Normally I'm not so carefull at all, but this time for some reason I got suspicious. So I looked up for a review on a common traveler website and: nothing. Only when I googled the e-mail address, I got a link to your website and saw this warning. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
The internet address where they have posted all the appartments was:

http://www.thepalacecity.com

Thank you again! Hope they'll catch them...

citybaseapartments.com looks legitimate at first sight. I'll look a little deeper, but I don't think they are scammers. Why do you think they are?

The other 4 are indeed fake. They will be closed down soon. Thanks very much for the notification!
