Hello,

Thanks for contacting me regarding my apartment at 1210 Astoria Park South #6F. It is a very bright studio apartment with balcony and is located between Shore Blvd and 14th Street right near the waterfront and the building is directly across the street from one of the most beautiful parks in New York.with hardwood floors, updated kitchens and baths. Building has elevator and laundry room.

A little about me, my family and the work i do:

http://blogs.msf.org/en/staff/authors/g ... hip-hunter

I am currently in Liberia with my family and i work here as a Mental Health Coordinator with Medicins Sans Frontieres/ Doctors Without Borders.

I will not be around to show you the apartment so i sent you a video clip of the apartment . Just download and view it ..If it meets your taste then get back to me by filling the application .

I will be dealing directly with you because i have had several issues using realtors since we are not there to supervise the rental process ourselves, so we have concluded to post the ad and rent the apartment ourselves. So, we are searching for someone who will be willing to take great care of the apartment as if it is his or hers'. If we come to a conclusion regarding renting the apartment to you, we would arrange on how to get the Keys and House Documents to you so that you can view the apartment before you sign any Document or Lease Agreement. After which you can move in immediately.

Rent Fees:

Rent Per Month: $900 (Including Utilities)
Security Deposit: $600 (Refundable)

Please fill the applicant details below so we can proceed with the Lease process.

God Bless.

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram, pre-paid credit card or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
