Dear Michelle
Thanks for accepting the contract obligations. Please sign the tenancy agreement and get back to me with the scanned copy of the signed page in order for my solicitor to file it or you can bring it along with you on the viewing day if you dont have access to scanner. My solicitor would be present during the viewing and you are required to come along with a passport photograph. However, we can proceed with the viewing and handover the keys on Friday (18th of December) at 5pm or at your own convenient time and move in to the flat on the date stipulated on the tenancy agreement.

I would appreciate if you can proceed with the transfer as soon as possible in order to fianlise everything by placing it under deposit protection scheme and also to tender the receipt of the payment to NLA Chairman for endorsement before the viewing day.

Here's the account details below:

Bank name: National Building Society
Account name: Yvonne Tracey Edwards
Account number: 09946828
Sort code: 07-04-36

Once you have finalised the transfer, you will email to me the bank transfer confirmation screenshot/receipt for verification.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Warm Regards
Mrs K. Cole

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram, pre-paid credit card or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

Hi Kath,
I had exactly the same situation happen to me when selling something on Ebay, same name and account details.
Essentially they said that they were disabled, so I should pay courier fee to that account, as that was how they have to order everything, being housebound. Then they would receive a notification to say that I had paid it and then they would refund the cost of the item and courier.
I ignored the message and heard nothing further.
