Room for Rent Scammer - [email protected] (Split)

Hi,

Thanks so much for your post on this scammer!! I encountered him/her today! I live in Toronto, Canada and I found an ad on Craigslist today for an apartment in Toronto.
I sent a message asking for more information and to set up a viewing and the responses I received really threw up a lot of red flags for me!! I sent him a list of questions to answer and I decided to investigate. The phone number he provided led me to this website and your posting (I googled the address and phone number he gave).
Also one of his other answers didn't match up--he said he'd lived in the apt/condo for 3yrs before putting it up for lease, and that's a LIE! The building didn't even open to occupants until 2009!!
His posting on Craigslist uses the name Danielle. The name he uses is Ryan Maron and the email address he uses is [email protected]

Thanks very much for your reply also thank you so much for the information provided. Everything is okay I and my family is pleased with it. I can see your willingness in this rent!!! So as i shall be giving you our apartment, please again take care of the apartment so that i might be glad when i come back. As i have earlier told you, the money involved is not the problem, but i only need my apartment to be kept clean always and taken care of until i return..

I have contacted the DHL Courier Service for the shippment of the apartment keys and documents to your Names: XXXX Address:XXXX. And below is the content of document and some of the correspondence that we will be sent to you first thing after your move in cost is confirmed.

(1) Entrance and the rooms Keys
(2) Paper/Permanent apartment form (Containing your reference details).
(3) The apartment documetary file.
(4) Payment Receipt.

These will be sent to your current address you have provided to me in the Application form as soon as your First Month Rent is confirmed and the tracking details to the package will be sent to you so that you can possibly occupy our apartment immediately you get the package. Dear fundraisergirl,
One correction, the advert is actually a real advert that has been taken and re-posted by "Ryan", though the rent was changed to a value way below market. I've actually spoken to Danielle (phone number was provided on original ad) to arrange a viewing of the apartment, so I can say with some confidence that she is not involved with the scam. Thanks.
