I will be in London from Saturday 25th so, I can meet you on Sunday in order to have you get the keys.

Regarding the payment, I would have asked you to transfer it into my bank account but it usually take five working days or more before it will reflect in my account and it sometimes cause conflict if it doesn't enter in time that's why I prefer Western Union. You don't need to worry about the transfer charges because it will be deducted from the balance you will be paying when you arrive London.

The thief will tell you that you can rent his accommodation only if you can prove that you have genuine interest. He will ask you send money by wire transfer (normally Western Union) to yourself or a member of the family to show that you have sufficient finances and that you are not a "time waster".

Another variation of this scam is that you need to send (by Western Union) money in order that the keys and other documents can be couriered to you

He will ask you to send him the transfer details.

Make no mistake ! Western Union Transfers can be picked up virtually anywhere in the world and with the minimum of identification. They are almost impossible to trace once the money has been collected. You will never get to see the accommodation or your money again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment by Western Union before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

Sorry i forgot to include my telephone number in the previous email. +447045768114. The reason the total funds has to be paid it's because it's a new contract you are signing for and a receipt has to be issued showing for the rent amount and the refundable security deposit.

Hello,

I just spoke with my lawyer about the rent to be paid upon your arrival but he disagreed with that cos he told me this is a new contract we about to seal and he said he will correct the agreement contract showing you have paid for a month rent and security deposit once the payment is made to Lynn.

Am sorry for any inconveniences this might have caused you but note that i have to follow my lawyer's instruction as he has been the one handling our property for several years!.

I have also attached you with a copy of Lynn ID for a benefit of trust and to know whom will be receiving the funds. Hope this is clear to proceed?

Hello, I have also been a victim of the same person. It was an ad on gumtree for a two beds flat in Glasgow. The e-mail adress whas different too

Here after are the mail I received after answering to the ad (it is similar), and another mail a little bit later that ask me to pay the first month rent (because before that I only paid the deposit):

I was able to talk to my lawyer not quite in order to finalized the reservation so that he can issue the receipt for the payment of rent you have made but he made it known to me that receipt cannot be issue for only security deposit because the rent and security deposit has to be paid together besides that they're potential tenants that are ready to move in and are ready to pay 3 months rent plus security desposit in order to get the room. But being the owner of the property and you being the first make payment, I have told him you will only pay the rent and deposit because of our initial agreement so, I suggest you go ahead and transfer the rent (450) in order to shelve aside other potential tenants and if you are not okay with the flat after the viewing, your money will be refunded back to you in full. I am really sorry for the inconvenience this might cause you.

She sent me a nice email explaining her house property details, i was impressed by pictures and area and address and also i asked for some kind of assurance that my money is going to property owner onky, so she sent a reassurance and passport photo.
