Room for Rent and other rental scams

I have a 3 bedroom apartment located at 7/2-8 Harbour Street, Wollongong 2500. I occupied one of them at the moment,two tenants whom lived with me moved out about a couple of months ago, they traveled back to Canada, So I just decided to rent out the place as am lonely living in the house alone.

Like I said in my profile Maria Lopez is my name, 35yrs old female , professional, straight, Christian, I grew up in Sydney, I like adventures , honest and clean. Tell me about yourself.


My place is affordable , popularly located in the heart of CBD, minutes walk to Cafes and restaruants. Nice ocean view, opposite Wollongong Harbour, with Cliff Road frontage.This private apartment features a large balcony perfect for entertaining, sun drenched tiled living areas with high racked ceiling and use of shared yard.


It comprises of new a kitchen with stainless steel Smeg dishwasher, induction hob, oven, Omega rangehood, plenty of cupboards, servery to dining area, neat older style bathroom with bathtub, separate internal laundry, Light and airy floor position, Spacious floor plan includes double size bedroom and built ins, flexible open plan study zone and dining/living areas flow to sunny easterly balcony. Recently refurbished by my husband to a very high standard of interior design. That's all i could say for now until you have a taste of my place. I'm looking to rent out my place to a neat and responsible person to share my available rooms with.

The minimum stay is 1month ($500/Month) utilities included such as Internet access(wireless), Parking space, electricity, water, laundry, dishwasher, kitchen utensils e.t.c , Bond:$500.00 (The Bond is a refundable security deposit).

I have successfully attached some picture of my apartment for you to view what i am talking about.

Thanks for the reply, I have been busy taking care of my husband whom had been sick for days now. Presently I am in St Mary's Hospital (United Kingdom) to visit my husband. This is one of the reason I want to lease my apartment out, but just two rooms because I live in the third room and I would be coming down to Australia as soon as my husband is back on his feet .


You can go take a look at the apartment from outside and let me know if you're ready to rent my apartment. All I can do is make arrangement for the documents through my solicitor because I have my keys here with me and as soon as my solicitor is able to complete the necessary documentation, He will inform me and I will send the keys to you via courier post next day delivery and you can move in as soon as you want.


I dont know how often you check your email but if you're willing to secure my place from what I have told you above. I would need these information below to prepare the lease agreement for you.




Name in full, Contact address, Phone number, Occupation, Age, Sex, Preferable Move in Date, Marital status and Total Period of rent/Stay.




I would need you to give me the information required which I listed above, so that I can forward them to my lawyer to prepare your lease document and email them to you as soon as possible. I will make available scan copy of my passport too and send them to you as soon as you're willing to rent my place.

Thanks for writing back, I'm a 43 year old straight female and currently on a visitation to my Daughter Maryam who just gave birth to a child in London, the United Kingdom. I will be back home by the end of October2010, but that will not disturbed me for letting my house to you.. . All the rooms in the house has private entrance


The house is located in a very quiet street and the is garage in the house, off street parking is also available. If you wish to have a look at the apartment, you can do that at anytime.you want. I already rented the other room to a lady from Canada, her name is Misty Stephenson and she will be moving in by the 18th of September 2010 .I will not be so much present in the house again as i will be going to London frequently and stay longer on each trip and will only be staying in the house for short days.


I have a fairly active sort of lifestyle, bit of exercise, bit of music, travel, bit of drinking and whatever else I can fit in along the way. More so, Just the way i did for Misty, the necessary

arrangement or the documents and the payment have been made. I shall give you reference number to the FEDEX head office, where you would get the keys to my apartment and of course your room, because without the reference number, you will not be able to get the keys except someone i give it to and i would be called to confirm first.


There is no extra fee, all bills are inclusive. I keep the place fairly clean & tidy, and don't have any snakes, crocodiles or pets, but if you want to bring something small like gold fish , I would be cool with that.


Let me know what you think. Although I might not know the kind of person you are but I believe even knowing you before moving in doesn't mean I would know if you have any bad behavior or something, it is just a matter of getting to know each other during the process of staying together.I would be expecting to read from you as soon as possible.

The important aspect is you have not been stung. Others reading the post will see the fraud.
