I understand your concern, i can come to meet you so we can finalized the whole deal on the spot as the keys is here with me in England so i am afraid of lost so i will come myself to show you the flat if it is okay with you, only that i will need a prove from you that you have the money ready and serious about the rent cos i don't want to come and see that you are not serious about the renting....

Here is my suggestion

you will go to the nearest money transfer agent western union office close to you and make the payment (one month's rent plus deposit) in any of your friend's name and with my address here in the UK and only send the payment details to me online cos i will need to check the status online https://wumt.westernunion.com/WUCOMWEB/ ... ethod=load

to see if the money is available, once i confirmed this i book my flight ticket asap and come to meet you. your friend will not collect the money he/she will only stand as an intermediary between both of us, until i come to meet you and show you the apartment and if you see that everything is perfect you sign the contract and i hand the key over to you, we can then go to the western union office together and you cancel the transaction and collect the money back and then pay it to me by cash on the spot. you will need to do as i suggested asap and get back too me immediately so that i can book my flight ticket and meet you, i will only need your phone number so that i can get in torch with you when i arrive. waiting to receive the payment details from you soon so that i book my flight ticket asap.

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram, pre-paid credit card or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
