Thanks for your swift response! However at this stage that you want to rent my Apartment, i need to ask some few question from you.

Can you take care of my Apartment as it is?
How many months do you intend to rent ?

It is unfortunate that my past bitter experience of reserving or inviting people to come and view my Apartment without any form of confirmation of their financial ability, seriousness, commitment and not keeping up to time as at when scheduled, this has brought about great losses to me. I have traveled all the way from MISSOURI to take some interested candidates round my apartment.Because that's where i work .

Some outside tenants do not have the money to pay the rent and yet they disturb the the landlord to arrange a viewing with their friend or relative who resides in the city, also some do not meet up with the appointments which has led to the dismissal of some landlords from office by there employees.

So my lawyer came up with refundable reservation... You will need to make a deposit with one month rent payment but before that, my lawyer will need some information from you to draft a contract which you will print and bring along with you on your arrival date to my house

Your full name:
Present address:
Confirmed move in date and confirmed move out date:
phone number

after you get back to me with the details, i will forward it to my lawyer to make your contract letter which i would forward back to you . Don't forget you will sign the contract and you will scan one to me and you will print one along with you when you are coming to the Apartment

Kindly get back to me with these information so that i can tell you how to proceed with the one month rent payment and security deposit.

Regards.

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram, pre-paid credit card or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union, MoneyGram or Bank Transfer payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
