The thief will tell you that you can rent his accommodation only if you can prove that you have genuine interest. He will ask you send money by wire transfer (normally Western Union) to yourself or a member of the family to show that you have sufficient finances and that you are not a "time waster".

Another variation of this scam is that you need to send money (again via Western Union) in order that the keys and other documents can be couriered to you

He will ask you to send him the transfer details.

Make no mistake ! Western Union Transfers can be picked up virtually anywhere in the world and with the minimum of identification. They are almost impossible to trace once the money has been collected. You will never get to see the accommodation or your money again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment by Western Union before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

Thanks for your interest in my property once again.I can send a copy
of my ID to you for the purpose of trust and you can also decide to send the money
directly to my bank account or my lawyer's bank account but i prefer western union because
western union is money transfer in seconds but bank transfer will take longer and note that
and if you do not feel comfortable sending it to directly to my name,you have an option of
giving somebody the money and have the person send the money to your name then send the
evidence of transfer to me.After confirmation that the transfer has been truly been done,i
will give you the go ahead to pick your money but this option will only work with western
union.

I can reserve my property for you till we meet in London because i
will like to let you know that there are some other interested
candidates but you are among the top candidates after reading through
your last email and I see You sound responsible but note that we will

If You really want my apartment,you will have to make a refundable security and damage

Another reason for these actions is that I had a bitter experience
recently in the hands of one so-called interested candidate who made
me come down to London claiming he was interested in my property and
on getting to the London,i waited for him at the meeting spot and the
idiot ended up wasting my precious time and money coming to London
only for him to call me later on that he was sorry and that he will
not be able to rent my flat anymore because the person he was
expecting money from disappointed him so i have resolved that anybody
interested in my flat must show signs of seriousness by paying the
deposit before i travel down to the London and reserve my property for
such person.


At the moment,i am still trying to recover from the bitter experience
i had recently in the hands of that man so after making the
transfer,get back to me with the evidence that you have made the
deposit by scanning a copy of the WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER receipt
or simply send the details via email just in case you do not have
access to a scanner and after i have confirmed that the deposit has
been truly made by you,i will issue
an official document confirming the booking to you to sign as an
evidence of payment of the deposit.
