Hi,
the same person operates on Finnish oikotie.com -site (apartments, jobs, etc.). My husband was in touch with her/him and received similar emails (attached below). I'm glad I googled her/his name up.

Hello ,

First of all i'm sorry to write you in english but i don't speak Finnish.
Sorry for my late response, but I'm in Italy-Roma right now, and I have been very busy at work. Anyway, thank you for your interest in renting my apartment. The price of the monthly rent is 580,00 Eur (the price includes all utilities costs). I own the apartment and i left with my work for a 5 years contract in Italy-Roma, so I decided to rent it. The apartment is in perfect condition, no need for additional repairs what so ever.
So, if you are interested in renting my apartment, please email me back for more details.

Best regards,
Lori Ann Powell

Hi ,

Like I have informed you before, the apartment is currently free, I accept short term 3 to 4 months and long term disposal from 5-6 years or more this depends on your decision. You can use my furniture, or you can also use your own if you prefer. If you decide to use yours, you can store my furniture in the large basement cellar. The price for 1 month of rent will be 580 Eur with all the bills included in it, and I also need a guarantee deposit of 1.160 Eur (that you'll get back when you move out). Now I'm living in Italy-Roma, but this will not influence at all the rental as I am willing to send you the keys so you can visit it and see it if you like it. You will have 2 days available to inspect the the apartment before rent it. The delivery of the keys and viewing permit (signed by me), will be made through Airbnb.com to make sure that we can trust each other. If you want to know more about the rental process please get back to me and I will send you the step by step procedure. A quick response would be much appreciated.

Best regards,
Lori Ann Powell

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram, pre-paid credit card or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
